From PFT: We've already handed out the Alan Page Award for the 2009 season. Next up, we'll give the prize given to the top linebacker -- the Derrick Thomas Award.

The finalists are Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware, Broncos linebacker Elvis Dumervil, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis, and Redskins linebacker London Fletcher.

First of all the name is freaking awesome. There have been a lot of amazing LB’s in the history of the league and for DT to have that named after him is very satisfying. For the award I would go Willis, Dumervil, and Ware in that order.

It’s ironic that only Ware and Elvis play even a similar position to the one DT played. MLB’s shouldn’t be eligible for a Derrick Thomas award.
