Todd Haley Officially Announces New Coaching Staff

Of course, we've already made notes on the new additions to the coaching staff for the Chiefs, but they were made official today. For those who've missed the initial posts or comments, today the Chiefs officially announced the hiring of:

  • Bernie Parmalee - Tight Ends Coach
  • Otis Smith - Quality Control (Defense)
  • Emmitt Thomas - Defensive Backs

You can find a full resume for each new coach on staff member here at the Mother Ship. Also, that same page has a list of the full coaching staff to this point. The question, then, is who are you most excited about among the new guys?

Emmit Thomas is my favorite addition

Top Coaching Staff

do you think we have the top coaching staff now? It has to be up there. I mean STAFF, not just the head coach… looking at the whole picture.

Watch the video of the press conference

That’s an impressive group of coaches up there—- and we have a few more on the staff that are absolutely top-shelf. This is a very, very strong staff. It’s quite a sight and we should all feel good about what’s going on at One Arrowhead Drive.

Impressive coaching staff

Our team is already better, just with the coaching staff alone. Add a few draft picks & free agency pick ups.

i see all these good hirings and

i’m thinking Where Da F .. is our QB coach?

Predictions as of 06.24.2009.

Larry Johnson will be a top 3 fantasy pick once again in 2010 (after a monster season in 2009.)
Dwayne Bowe will be a 2009 Pro Bowl selection.
Brandon Flowers will have at least 6 INTs in 2009 season.
Todd Haley will have a sideline shouting match caught on TV yelling at one of his asst. coaches.

Exactly..

As has been stated on here he was Brady’s QB coach for 2 of 3 Super Bowls…I’ll take that anyday

I've been awfully hard on the front office...

and Haley in particular….. but I may have to rethink my stance, they’re bringing in not only proven coaches, but they are also now bringing old greats into the fold. I respect that, especially considering how much heat they took for shutting down fort arrowhead….

Thus far…. I have little to complain about this offseason, although I’m sure if we start losing on an epic scale again next year I’ll find something.

Ummm..... there's a little Kool Aide on the corner of your mouth : )

Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...

it's not kool aide...

if I still say I’m looking for things to bitch about… ha…

Right now I like the moves but I’m not declaring anything some grand success yet…

callmesir ... a few months ago you and I were in the same boat

both of us voicing our displeasure with Haley and his antics …

here we are again, and again in the same boat … I like the new hires all the way around … now for a good, solid draft and see how it goes from there

and like you, most likely next fall we’ll both find something to b*tch about, if not before

Somehow I knew the Emmitt Thomas hire would make you smile...

Huh. Guess you had that figured out already. LOL.

Y’know, I’m really impressed with our lineup. The one coach I’m unsure of—Richie Anderson—caught 88 passes in a season last decade and went to the Pro Bowl, so HE obviously knows how to hang onto a football.

And I love the presence of recognizable former players on the staff…Bradford, Smith, Pleasant…it’ll help mentor the kids in the locker room as well as add some new blood to the coaches’ offices.

yeah...

We were in the same boat… and looks like we still are…. I think the draft will probably give me plenty to bitch about…. I’m sure pioli will do something like drafting brandon graham with our #5 pick…. and I’ll have plenty to complain about… ha…. but so far so good…. and part of it is that I’m a bit of a charlie weiss homer…. it’s weird… I bitched about people loving Haley despite a lack of experience/success….. but I always defended Charlie at ND… even after 3 rough seasons in a row.

Anthony Pleasant

Are we the first coaching job for Pleasant? We have a lot of talent on the D-line (at least at DE) and we need someone that can bring out their full potential. Hopefully, Romeo can make that happen. If he said Pleasant is the man he wants coaching the line, who am I to disagree. Overall, our team is already looking better than the last few years and we haven’t even added any players yet.
