Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel missed practice on Wednesday after the Chiefs signed third QB Tyler Palko from the practice squad. That brought up plenty of questions about Cassel's availability on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
The Chiefs have now confirmed that Cassel underwent an appendectomy this morning. Here's their statement:
The Kansas City Chiefs announced that QB Matt Cassel underwent an appendectomy Wednesday. The procedure was successful, and the Chiefs said they expect Cassel to return to work this week.
That last sentence is up for interpretation. We still have no idea if Cassel will or will not be playing on Sunday against the Chargers.
