They Don't Understand

I know a lot of us on Arrowhead Pride aren't from the Kansas City area, or currently outside of the KC area. A lot of us are Chiefs fans stuck in solitary confinement, with little to no other Chiefs fans around to get excited with you. As for me, I was born and raised in St. Joseph and still spend my summers there when I am not in school. Ah, school, where the majority of the people around here do not care about football and care more about the St. Louis Cardinals. It is torture, let me tell ya.

They just don't understand. Follow after the jump.

They don't understand why, after the Monday Night game, I was on a high that no drug, legal or illegal, could match.

They don't understand why, after starting 3-0, I was already thinking playoffs.

They don't understand how, after several losing seasons, I could still be a fan of the team.

They don't understand why I was so excited for the draft last April.

They don't understand why I wear the same red shirt every Friday.

They don't understand how I can get so excited when plays like Dexter McCluster's punt return or Tony Moeaki's one handed catch happen.

They don't understand why, after the Bills and Raiders games, my right hand was swollen about twice the size as normal due to punching various walls.

They don't understand why I spend so much time on this website.

They don't understand why I can't stand the Raiders, Broncos, or Chargers.

They don't understand why I am in a bad mood for a week when the Chiefs lose.

They don't understand why Arrowhead Stadium is the best sporting venue in the world.

They don't understand what being loud for your team is all about.

They don't understand what real BBQ tastes like.

They don't understand what "the right 53" means.

They don't understand why, when the Chiefs are good or bad, they are the talk all around KC.

They don't understand why watching all this young talent develop into a team under the watchful eye of Todd Haley & Co. gives me hope for the future.

They don't understand how I know every Chiefs player on the field.

They don't understand why I would rather watch the Chiefs game than go get something to eat with them.

They don't understand why, after several years of losing football, I am especially excited for this season and the following seasons.

They don't understand why I get so upset with the Chiefs at times and so elated with them at others.

They don't understand why I search high and low all over the internet for Chiefs info.

They don't understand why on Earth I would buy tickets to the January 2, 2011 game against the Raiders.

They don't understand what it means to support a football team through thick and thin.

They don't understand why I come to Arrowhead Pride for Chiefs news instead of ESPN.

They don't understand how a football team can put the whole Kansas City area on the team's back.

They don't understand why I am so excited training camp is in St. Joe.

They don't understand me.

They don't understand CHIEFS FOOTBALL!

Now, I'm not saying that there aren't diehard fans elsewhere in the league, but I personally feel know that the Kansas City fans are the best. Sure, we aren't the biggest market in the world, but that doesn't matter. Sure, we might not get national coverage, but that doesn't matter. Sure, we aren't favored to win against SD, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that we know we can beat the Chargers. We know we have what it takes to win the division. We know.

This season has far surpassed my expectations. I can't wait for what the rest of the season might bring and to spend these next 4 weeks with the greatest fans in football; the Chiefs fans. Arrowhead Pride is a safe-haven for those of us who aren't constantly around other Chiefs fans. Hopefully you guys have enjoyed this and I hope some of you can relate. Feel free to add to the list of what other people don't understand.
