When the good news came in that Oakland had held on to defeat the Chargers, I settled in to hear all the positive things that the NFL network would have to say about the 8-4 Chiefs with a 2-game lead in the West. I figured, now they would HAVE to talk about my boys, at least some!
Lately the NFL network has stolen an Idea from ESPN and added a "coming up" list on the left-hand side of the HD screen. The list let's you know what subjects are about to be discussed. I was excited that the Chiefs were next. Just before they got to it, they went to a commercial.
After the break, they came back in and KC was no where to be found on the list. They were talking about all the usual favorite subjects: Tom Brady and the Monday Night game, what's wrong with Peyton Manning, maybe we should give some more attention to the Raiders, all the other New York, and California teams etc. Not one word about the Chiefs!
Later in the evening, after watching a few of the stories (Manning, Brady, Steelers-Ravens etc) SEVERAL times, the network finally gave me what I was wanting - well kinda. It's sooooooooooo obvious that the networks don't like the Chiefs. Painfully obvious sometimes. But this episode took the cake for me.
After showing a BRIEF summary of the KC-Donkey game (I'll admit, not many highlights in that one), they spent what seemed like 15 minutes talking about the Raiders. "Maybe we haven't given them enough credit" they announced. Then came the real kicker! "So who do you think will win the West now they asked?" Then they gave the multiple choice options - "San Diego or Oakland?"...
Not one single mention or thought about KC, the team with the current 2-game lead in the West!!! Not, "maybe the Chiefs will hold onto the lead and actually win it" - NOT EVEN A MENTION OF THE POSSIBILITY that could happen!!! We all need to write the NFL Network and give them a piece of our mind!
I mean, I know they don't want the small market team to win, they don't even consider it a possibility. I wonder what they will talk about after KC wraps up the West? "Who do you think will win the West next year Bob? Denver, San Diego, or Oakland?"
I hope they keep ignoring the boys right up until they win it all. I think that is what it will take for the Chiefs to get any kinda of Media attention outside of their home territory. I hope this lack of attention can help motivate the boys to keep winning!
I live in Oklahoma here, and it is like pulling teeth to get any KC Chief news. If it weren't for the internet, I'd be in the dark. GO CHIEFS!
