O/T: Query from a 49ers Fan

Hey everyone, this is Fooch from Niners Nation. Given my friendly vibe with the mighty Arrowhead Pride overlords, I wanted to run a question by the AP community. I'm coming to you guys because I would like to hear comments from neutral third party individuals and I won't take offense to what you have to say.

The 49ers are beginning an overhaul of the front office and coaching staff. Some comments have been made by NN commenters and also folks in the media that the 49ers are a bottom of the barrel franchise and it will be hard to attract people to the team.

I understand that the team is struggling right now. However, I've always felt that if a coach, GM, etc could turn the team around that would be quite a feather in their cap given the fact that the 49ers were a glamor franchise at one point. If you're a head coach with minimal or not hugely significant ties to the 49ers, do they just seem like a down in the dumps team or is there some glimmer outside the Bay Area when it comes to the franchise?

I'm just curious how the 49ers franchise is viewed from a general perspective given both their present funk and past greatness. Does any of that matter when you look at the 49ers now?

I'm writing up a post about this topic at NN and will link to this FanPost, so please let me know what you think. Also, best of luck in the playoffs (don't let that influence your comments!).
