Monday Night Football, Bears Vs. Vikings: He's Back

Good evening everyone.

If you've flipped on ESPN for Monday Night Football this evening then you already know -- Brett Favre has been upgraded from out to questionable and will start for the Minnesota Vikings against the Chicago Bears. (And Adrian Peterson is out. Ouch, fantasy football playoffs.)

You knew he couldn't stay away long.

This game is unique for a reasons including: first-come, first-serve seating, no alcohol sold and of course being played at the frozen field of TCF Bank Stadium, home to the University of Minnesota.

Here's your open thread for the night. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. (Arrowhead time).

Who ya got?

Brett Favre

comes back with a cold weather attitude. Cutler will throw at least 3 ints and the Vikings defense eats the hearts out of the Bears. Vikings 29, Bears 7.

Barring an outstanding game from the Bears D and an absolute fail from Forte, I win my FF playoff.

I’m a lucky SOB…he had AP as well.

So who takes a chance on TO this year?

His production was decent this year, but hassle/age will likely keep him from a contender. Who takes the chance?

Please God make it the Broncos.

It would be so perfect after dumping Marshall to bring TO in to catch passes from Tebow. hahaha.

if you can list a guy as “out” one day and then make him the starter right before the game starts. Isnt there suppose to be rules that prevent teams from doing this crap

think Haley will stand Wallace up

by chiefnation on Dec 20, 2010 9:58 PM CST up reply actions

Nope.

I know there’s a ton of people saying this all of the sudden, so I’ll repeat what I’ve been saying:

Wallace isn’t strong enough to anchor and hold the edge against the run. He also hasn’t dropped into coverage in his NFL career. Both of those things are paramount in the SOLB position.

by chiefnation on Dec 20, 2010 10:01 PM CST up reply actions

But Tamba is bad in coverage

He is a great pass rusher but really is a liability in run support and pass coverage. Having two pure pass rushing 4-3 DEs converted to 3-4 OLBs would be stupid.

by trentchiefsfan on Dec 20, 2010 10:04 PM CST up reply actions

Tamba plays a completely different position.

WOLB is a pass rusher primarily, and a coverage/run stopper secondarily. If we were talking about Tamba’s position, that’s different. Tamba is also not good against the run or in coverage.

I know so many want to replace Vrabel with a guy who will get after the QB often, but Wallace does that so well from the nickel DT/DE position. Very few teams in the NFL can lay claim to a 7 sack DT/DE that is primarily a situational/backup player. We should leave him where his strengths lie.

He’s a guy that sees the little gaps in between linemen as they’re backing away from him and exploits them. When linemen are coming at him, he’s too easily shoved away from the point of attack.

It’s just so difficult to come into the league and immediately make an impact when you’re a defensive player that close to the line. Not saying he won’t become something special, but I don’t like to count on rookies to come in a play a position like that immediately…especially one with that much responsibility and dependency on identifying game speed.

Guy really loves his job.

I read an article where the interviewer was asking him about how he “loves” everything, and he made it a point to tell the interviewer that he genuinely loves his job. He gets to work 8 hours a day, travel all over the nation and see plenty of places without a coaching responsibility, and he gets to see a lot more of his family.

I think his love for the job just translates to his commentating. Sure, he gets overexcited sometimes, but I’d rather have that than something bland…or a stand-up comedian like Dennis Miller.

I must've seen an earlier line, then.

I thought the spread was obscene.

My other league...

Its the 5 seed vs the 6 seed… I won my semi final game by 30 points, despite ADP not playing a snap.

And another two points just to make sure I couldn't have done it.

Yup, we would’ve tied. I really made some poor lineup choices this week.

Yea no kidding.

Now I’m laughing at all the people that thought they would put Webb in as a WR on yahoo fantasy football. I almost fell victim to it though.

I don't get the Bears...

When they are bad, they are as bad as anybody, but most nights, they could beat most teams.

There was an article in ESPN the magazine when Hester was a senior at Miami...

Where they were talking about how fast he is (obviously), but then went onto talk about how his dad was a local legend with how fast he was… how once he raced a track star and turned around and back peddled across the finish line.

Pretty cool

now I feel all warm and fuzzy. Matt won me over last year. I can’t remember the game or the team we were playing, just remember him throwing a pick in the red zone and he hauls ass and plows the dude before he had a chance to return it.
