Question: 2nd Quarter = 1st Handoff to Charles?
I really like using both Jones and Charles. However, I don't like waiting until the 2nd quarter to give the ball to Charles. He averaged over 12 yards per carry today and is setting NFL history for his over 6 yards a carry for the season? Why are Haley and Weis waiting so long? I was at the first Chargers game and, if my memory is correct, they waited until the second quarter then, too. This is a FanShot bc I know it isn't substantial enough for a FanPost but I'd be interested in hearing some AP thoughts.

Why does it bug so many people
when he doesnt take his first handoff til end of first/beginning of second/etc? He got touches before then on passes, we got him in space which is where he needs to be. TJ can run over people and gain yardage when there is none, JC not so much… its working why screw with it?
Cassel out, Andrew Luck in!

The answers to your questions are stated above.
Because when you’re struggling to get offensive production and #20 is getting little yardage and you have a guy who averages over 6 yards a carry, it’s possible to agree with your sentiment that things are generally working well but also want them to give him the ball sooner. He’s more likely to take a handoff and go 17, 23, or even 80 yards.
I'm not disagreeing with the number of touches...
just wondering about why the long wait sometimes. Especially when we’re playing an away game and getting a good start is so important.
I wish I knew why he didn't get very many carries today
maybe because of the cramps? I do think they should use him in more goal situations though.
I don't know if the cramps are the reason, but I can see wanting to set the table for your home run hitter.
Get some intel from Jones’s carries about enemy weaknesses, get the enemy used to the speed of Jones. Then give Charles the best shots possible. Jones is virtually indestructible. Whenever Jamaal gets a lot of carries, you can see the toll it takes on him. I can see him cramping, getting hurt, or losing ball security if he isn’t kept pretty fresh.
