Alright guys the last mock draft thread fell off the front page a couple days ago and i wanna keep this going as a place for chiefs fans to discuss college football and more importantly the future of our team. Many things have happened in the last two weeks; Cam Newton is the Heisman trophy winner, Bruce Carter, top OLB'er prospect for a 4-3, is out with knee surgery and most of the bowls will be played in these next two weeks. Feel free to discuss the draft or any of these bowl games here and i'll start with my mock draft for the Chiefs after the jump!
1. Von Miller OLB T A&M
This guy just screams Pioli to me. He is a very hard worker, a team captain and leader on his team, plays through pain, and he is an intelligent linebacker. This to me is a great pickup if he makes it to us at 21-32.
2. Sione Fua NT Stanford
My favorite NT prospect he should be the second NT taken after Powe. The kid demands double teams and he is strong enough to fight them off and get to the ball carrier. He is a little light but an NFL strength program can help him gain 5 -10 lbs.
3. Kris O'Dowd C USC
Injuries cause O'Dowd to slide this far as he should be a second rounder along with Wisniewski. Centers typically slide a little and O'Dowd is a very strong and capable center and should help us not get manhandled in the middle by Oakland and SD.
4. Ronald Johnson WR USC
Johnson is a great WR prospect and should be a home run threat every time he touches the ball. He had a bit of injury issues but he is a solid WR and should help an anemic receiving core.
5. Ricky Stanzi QB Iowa
Another pick that to me screams Pioli. The kid is a leader and has a competitive fire in him. He just needs to learn to calm down and play the game. He sometimes takes unnecessary risks and it hurt him in previous years but this year he has played lights out and if he continues to develop he has a big league arm.
5. DeMarcus Van Dyke CB Miami
Brandon Harris is a beast of a corner and just like Brandon Carr this kid is targeted a lot. He plays great man defense and should be a solid option as a backup corner outside with potential to be a solid number 2 corner.
7. Mario Fannin RB Auburn
Guy is a bruising running back that averages over 5 ypc on his college career. He has shown very soft hands in the passing game as well and would be a good back to try and develop into a possible TJ replacement.
