Good morning everyone.
Really quickly before one of our biggest games of the year I wanted to remind people of a couple of issues with commenting and how we can better self-police the site. Please read and this will make us all much happier on game days, win or lose.
First thing is to say that I am a moderator here and the way it works is not that I look through every single comment each day. Not at all.
The job of moderator is not possible without the flagging system. When you flag a comment, it is brought to my attention on a page I have access to. I follow up on EVERY flag. These are what is effective to get unruly subjects off the site.
You know what flags are -- click the 'actions' button on a particular comment and an option to flag will appear -- now what is appropriate to flag?
I think it's important to say that ALL personal attacks on other commentors are flaggable. Trolls are flaggable and should be defined as comments that are specifically designed to start a fight, not a conversation.
This is a very fine line and is often mislabeled. Please use discretion. Cussing is not a flaggable offense. We have never had a hard rule against cussing but writing a four letter word in ALL CAPS isn't a good idea.
Those are some of the highlights. Any questions can be emailed to me (which you can find in my profile). Everyone just remember: Don't feed the trolls, don't overreact to a loss, and don't attack other commentors.
Thanks. Woodman.
