Chargers favored by as much as 9.5 points over Chiefs

30

The Chargers opened as 7 point favorites. That quickly moved down to 6.5 at most places, as the early money came in on the Chiefs. And then Matt Cassel had an appendectomy, which led to the line coming off the board for a few days, until the books could figure out who was going to be the QB. Now that it's been established Brodie Croyle will almost certainly be the starter, the line has gone back up, this time as high as 9.5 points, with an average of about 9 points. A lot has been made in the media of Croyle's 0-9 record as a starter, and I'm sure that has a lot to do with the line. Unless you're a Chiefs fan, all you can really do is look at his numbers, and they don't inspire a lot of confidence. Most Chiefs fans seem a lot more optimistic about Croyle's ability and chances for success. Let's hope Chiefs fans are smarter than the general betting public.
