Rubbing the Shoe - A New Arrowhead Tradition

Stay connected for news and updates

I have been a season ticket holder for 7 years now, so I feel like I have lived through the worst and am ready for the change I can feel in the wind around Arrowhead.

Last year I opted to have one of those KC Bricks placed with my family names on it out in the Plaza by the North Entrance. When I arrived at the stadium for the first time I was anxious to see our Brick and check out the newly finished areas.

After reading the quotes about Lamar on the base, I saw a lady I was standing near walk by the Statue, rub Lamar's shoe and say a quick thank you for all he's done. At that moment, I knew I had a new pregame tradition. Now before every homegame I stop by the plaza, check out our brick and then rub Lamar Hunt's right shoe. In the same vein as Haley changing our away uniforms for the Seattle game, I have now rubbed the shoe at every home game this year and we are 5-0! It just cannot be a coincidence! OK I am having fun with that here, but I tell you what, it is definately a permanent part of my gameday ritual at Arrowhead and it appears to be working... Go Chiefs!!!
