Ok, I have been giving Coach Romeo and Coach Emmitt bunches of kudos so far this season. But as the legendary President from Missouri said, " THE BUCK STOPS HERE!!!". How can these coaches not stress the importance of not letting WR's get downfield for big plays. Where, I repeat, WHERE in the F%$k were our safeties?
In this last game I saw McGraw 10 to 15 yards away, but do not blame him as everybody and their pet dog KNOW the man is slow by pro standards. Yeah, even our vaunted coaching staff know this. So the Question is WHY? We spent a fortune on a safety who has speed and he isn't playing center field or did he just plain blow it?
In the Texan game, we saw them go away from Flowers, and Carr was put on an island against the best, arguably, WR in the game and what happened? You couldn't find a safety close by, especially late in the game when it is always, always stressed- Don' Let Them Beat You DEEP!!!!!!. I guess it is NOT being stressed by the Chief's as all three losses come from big play deep balls at the end of the game.
Think not, let us not forget the Colt's and the best QB in the game doing more of the same. I can give up the old standard stock reply, we are young and have rookie safety play so we gotta expect this. OK I will buy it once, maybe twice, but not anymore. Regardless of the coaching, and risk taking, regardless of the dropped balls and subpar receiver play, regardless of the ref's all of our losses could have been prevented with a safety who knows how to play the position. Since Pee Wee ball it's taught about not getting beat deep. Pay a guy millions and him not know what is coached in the pee wee's?
This just plain frost's my balls, chap's my ass or any other friggin platitude you wanna use. It is unacceptable to me as a fan, but it has to be part of the plan--- Right? Get better every week, every game? TOTAL CRAP! If we cannot keep from getting beat by the deep pass at the end of the game, we will NOT see the playoffs.
I didn't see Berry and do not know what coverage we were in, but a young, fast safety should be playing centerfield in that scenario. Did he blow it? Did the coaching staff? I don't that answer, all I know is it is broke and needs fixing.
