The Face of a Franchise
So I was listening to NFL radio this morning and they were talking about the Dallas Cowboys and how the face of their franchise is the Owner Jerry Jones. They continued to discuss how this is the biggest problem with the Cowboys, the owner should never be the face of the franchise it should be a coach (Bill Parcells, Jimmy Jones, Bill Cowher) it should be a quarterback (Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady) even a line backer (Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher). The options can go on but it should never be an owner, he/she is not on the field. So this got me thinking of our beloved Chiefs. If someone asked me who the face of our franchise is, what would be my answer?
Feel free to jump with me...
Can it actually be Dwayne Bowe? 4 game suspension for banned substance use, constant abuse from the media, too many dropped balls. Or our number one receiver with 6 TD's in 7 games???
Can it be a rookie 1st round safety who has blown numerous coverages for TD's in the first few games. Or who now has 2 ints and at least one forced fumble in the last two games?
Can it be our quarterback who has yet to win over much of Chiefs Nation with his throwing prowess and who had a dreadful first year. Or who now has thrown for 10 tds and only 3 ints, and has only been sacked 5 times I think?
How about our star running back(s) who never say much in the media and just rack up hundreds of yards.
What about our 2nd year coach who inherited a weak team and is starting to turn it all around?
What about our GM where in Pioli we Trust. He has made some great trades and draft picks and missed on a couple but still a solid performance all around.
I look at these options and I see many good faces for sure but do I see a sole, singular face of the franchise staring back at me? I personally say no. What I see is a whole damn team staring back at me. I think the face of the franchise is a team photo, or better yet it is the Arrowhead Logo on their helmets.
So I have to then ask myself, is this a good thing or a bad thing? Should we have a face of the franchise? Should someone step up and take that role? Should we nominate someone? Is it already there and I just don't see it? To be honest with you I do not know the answer and that is why I am putting it out here. I personally think it is a good thing. I think it means we aren't relying on one person to put our team on his shoulders. I think it is a good thing because we don't need any one person at any time.
So I thought it was time I tried my first ever poll on AP because I am really curious to see what everyone else thinks?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Is he 'the face' or just the only face we see on a regular basis?
He is definitely starting to build a name for himself now that he is winning games and with all of the ‘so-called’ controversial 4th downs. Plus, he has a dry sense of humour that we are all starting to love and he has numerous Haley-isms that helps add to it.
Agreed.
Just about every time I see or hear anything substantial about the Chiefs, Haley comes up. He’s quickly becoming a rock star in the NFL.

I truly agree right now
When I think of Indy I think Manning, Chargers it’s Phyllis, Oakland it is Al Davis (again an Owner as the face and again a crappy team) the list goes on but with KC I don’t see one face yet.
Johnnie Morton.

You put all those folks mentioned out and I think Pioli is the only one that would be recognized from other than a Chiefs fan.
Good point
Maybe I am thinking too much like a Chiefs fan and not as a football fan. Tony G was always known by everyone (hell even Oprah knows him) and I think it is safe to say he was our ‘Face’ for years. We do have a lot of new names (I don’t want to say no-namers) but lesser known names on our team so maybe Scott is the face most known around the league.
Haley.
It’s because of Haley that we can even consider the option “The whole damn team”. Haley is on his way to gaining coach of the year status. Gotta give it to Haley.

No Brandon Flowers?
Probably not the face of the franchise, but arguably the best player on the team, hopefully for many years to come. Would definitely choose him over D-Bowe.
Have to agree with Tarkus, not very well known yet
I am digging the poll results though. Majority says the team but clear cut second place is Haley. I would have no issues with Haley being the face of the franchise because he is earning it by doing all the right things where as McDaniels IS the face of the Broncos and it is solely based on stupid moves and everyone hating him for dismantling the franchise.
