Top 10 Reasons why Haley could have been wagging his finger
Much to do about nothing. I heard that phrase around somehwhere, not sure it means all that much. But this weeks controversy du joir involves our own coach Todd Haley. Apparently some think he was upset at Denver running up the score.
Some don't think they know what they think:
http://www.milehighreport.com/2010/11/14/1814588/handshake-question
Some apparently think it's all about the drama:
http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/11/15/1815066/rivalry-reignited-todd-haley-versus-josh-mcdaniels
And there will be a different kind of gesture on December 2nd at Arrowhead:
So Chiefs fans, why did Todd Haley refuse to shake Josh McDaniels outreached hand?

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
You could have added...
Attempted to shorten the career of my best running back for two seasons now with those illegal hits. Mays’ headhunting, etc. But Haley’s classless, and logic will be damned, for not attempting to physically harm someone, which would be funny if it weren’t so absurd.
That was a weird deal.
Having just given up 28 points in one quarter just two games ago, and having had a very suspect defense all year, the Broncos were not running up the score.
Just a bad move on a bad day for Haley.
Denver first.
agreed....
After going down 35-0, the Chiefs outscored Denver 29-14. How exactly is that running up the score?
Did McDaniels pull his starters in the 4th qtr?
Week 17 of last year, Haley pulls the starters as a show of respect even with the Broncos still trying to win, the score was 44-24. So expecting the same respect in return Haley got pissed off when he didn’t get it. Anyone who can’t see that can join McDaniels on the douchebag list as far as I’m concerned. Haley had to have a good reason to not shake his hand and i stand behind him and my team 100 % unlike some people here.

End of 3rd qtr. score - 42-17
Chiefs have a 28-0 point quarter like the Raiders put on the Broncos two games ago – Chiefs 45-42 over Broncos. Maybe McD could have pulled the starters after the Lloyd TD (tangent: is the athleticism of NFL players like what Lloyd showed on that catch just insane? How can anyone not like the NFL?). Even still though, the Broncos are so beat up, the starters that were playing (excluding Orton and Bailey) need some reps or they were origianlly backups with no one behind them on the bench anyway.
Denver first.
When you're 2-6, you don't take your foot off the gas.
It’s the Chiefs’ job, not the Broncos’, to stop the Broncos.
I have an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one.
So we should blame Haley for not shaking McDaniels hand as a show of good sportsmanship, but not be mad about the lack of sportsmanship by McDaniels because they were 2-6.

I'd bet you all the change in my pocket right now that McD shook Tom Cable's hand after the Raiders blew out the Broncos
it’s called taking the high road … did the Raiders stop scoring points? no … in fact they scored 59 of them
you do what you have to do and swallow your pride if needed along the way … ok, so maybe McD was being a jerk and leaving starters in, so what? these guys are all pros … they get paid to stomp the opoosition
so Haley was mad, so what? that in and of itself isn’t the point … it’s just that simple: do the right thing

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Haley showed him respect last year by pulling the starters, and was expecting the same respect in return.
I guess some people can’t understand the concept of giving respect back after receiving it.
The Raider could have continue to score at will in that game but ran the ball more as well as pulled some of their starters. do the right thing lol, so then if McDaniels had been doing the right thing he would have pulled the starters, but he didn’t so why does Haley have to?

In the pros...
I don’t believe there is any such thing as running up the score, so I have no problem with Denver trying to score late. Just like I had no problem with Haley giving Battle some TD love against the Jaguars, with the game well in hand.
My feeling is, if you don’t like it, do something about it. And I don’t mean pointing your finger at the opposing coach.
I have an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one.
I think that's the point
Just like I had no problem with Haley giving Battle some TD love against the Jaguars, with the game well in hand.
Haley does put the backups in when the game is out of hand.
Touche'
My point was they kept trying to score, and I think that was more about throwing Battle a bone than it was showing “respect” to the Jaguars. And I’m fine with that.
I have an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one.
I would have.
Though I guess they threw Tebow a couple bones.
For that matter, I would have had Charles go for the record last year, though I believe he took himself out of the game. Hopefully he at least had the option.
I have an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one.
McDaniels showed more class.....
…When Oakland whipped his team in his house. He shook Cable’s hand. As little sympathy as I feel for McD’s and his silly personnel issues, his Tebow fascination, his attempt to look like Bellichik-west with his Jedi hoody..he at least conjured up some modicum of sportsmanship and after being beaten 59-14 shook the other visiting coach’s hand.
That was a classy moment in a sometimes classless game.
Haley…not so much. That’s sad.

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
T.Cable pulled his starters in that game also or the score would have been more one sided than it was.
T.Cable showed respect and got it back with the hand shake at the end of the game. McDaniels showed no respect and got none in return end of story.

True that...
Oakland scored no points in the 4th quarter.

Maybe Todd was pissed with all of Denver's dirty play?
Cut-blocks, trying to take knees, out every play? How is that shit legal? How bout the cheap shot JC? Goodell is gonna charge him for that one. Denver hasn’t changed thier dirty ways since that days of Elway. Im a believer that if you aint cheatin you aint tryin’, and I wish the Chiefs would play dirty (Shaun Smith, where you at?). But I aint hating on Haley. I’d be pissed too
I'd rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave
yeah, because Haley is the very epitome of sportsmanship ... see: Smith, Shaun
Dread, you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth … on one hand you call out the Broncos for dirty play, but the next sentence you wish the Chiefs would play dirty
sorry, you can’t have your cake and eat it too … you want dirty and classless or you want sportsmanship?
I know which one I want … and it’s not classless

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
We know how self-righteous you are, no surprises there....
Sportsmanship is joke. Been dead for years. I want wins. If that means dirty and classless, so be it
I'd rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave
no, it's not a joke, nor is it dead

Drama, Drama, Drama.
T.Haley show McDaniels respect or sportsmanship or what ever you want to call or spin it, by pulling our starters week 17 of last year even with the Broncos still trying to win the game. Haley expected the same respect or sportsmanship back in return but didn’t get it, so i can’t blame him for not shaking his hand after the game. Show me respect and you’ll get it back, but do what McDaniels did and shame on you.

Thank you, CPT
Jamaal would have broken the single game rushing record if Todd would not have pulled him. But McDaniels not only leaves his starters in, but goes for it on 4th down in the 4th quarter…
Personally, I think this story is getting blown way out of per portion. I don’t support what Haley did, but I don’t condemn him for it either. Well, at the least the rivalry is about as strong as it’s been in 10 years…

What would you do on 4th and 4 at the 32 yd line?
Punt, try a FG or go for it. You make the call. I am amazed Caveman how your personality changed after a loss. I’ve read some of your comments on MHR and have been very pleased with your open mind. I think here you are grasping if anything; again only my opinion.
I do have an issue with the talking about repeated cheap shots, chop blocks and going at the knees since I watched every play and my perception was different. Mays got called for PI on one occasion. In this day and age in the NFL does anyone think all these “cheap shots” were missed by the officials?
Sorry for the rambling but I guess during the 4 game losing streak the Broncos were the lovable losers and all was great here but then again I’m a kool aid drinkin Denver Broncos fan.
i sincerely thank you all for taking the time to read my reply.
The QB position is set.

amen Royals
The rivalry is all that matters to me in this.
Respect is an odd thing and it reveals itself in mysterious ways. Haley’s passionate, the Chiefs were hanging tough, and the Broncos were nervous about even being three scores up on them. Seems to me maybe leaving their starters in was showing respect, in a way.
Just my lame homer opinion, I’m sure. ; )
In good times and bad times, I'm a Bronco fan. Sucka.

This is awesome
So far 7 people admit they are Raiders fans, and that San Diego is more likely than them to win the Division!
Bullpussy....
Chargers are going back to where they live…Choketown. Don’t include me in your klatch. And I dont really think those guys post at S&BPride.

Hmm...
My wildly inaccurate guess is that he said, and I paraphrase:
“You got a burger hanging out of your nose.”
But my lip reading skills are lacking, so it may have been:
“You da man!”
And then again, it was probably:
“Eww, Bronco Cooties!”
