There's no way he falls to us in waivers.

He will likely be claimed by someone else before we have priority. But if he’s available to us, it actually wouldnt surprise me. His press conference said it all, he missed NE. He missed those guys. Well, here, he gets the GM that brought him to NE, a QB that threw to him, and a defensive leader like Vrabel that he played alongside. I would be more surprised if he made it to us in waiver priority than I would be about us grabbing what is clearly a weakness for a competitive team.

Pioli did trade for Moss the 1st time, right?

Moss is likely a cancer, but doesn’t always complain if his team is winning.

Moss would open up the run and pass game. DMC could roam free in the slot and safeties would have to be over the top of Moss eliminating them putting 8 in the box against JC/T Jones.

I highly doubt this will happen, but Moss > Chambers and Moss + Bowe + DMC would be spectular even though we don’t throw or need to throw much.

Does he clear waivers or does someone claim him? Thoughts?

I think the key words in what you posted are "at this point in the season." Which is before the deadline.

From farther down in the same section:

If the waivers occur after that time, the player’s Player Contract will be subject to the waiver system and may be awarded to a claiming Club.

“After that time” being between February and the trading deadline. Since we’re not in that time frame I think he has to go on waivers.

I gotta agree that this could be a huge pickup

bowe across the middle with DMC and our run game with at least the threat of an actual “deep threat”

Just the Deep threat alone

will make it so we can consistently get 300 yds/game rushing. We’re hitting 200 with no vertical threat at all.

That explains his comments yesterday,

I thought it was weird that after the game he was talking about how great NE was and how much he missed it and all the guys there.

Honestly when it happened I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

My initial thoughts were the Vikings would dump him or suspend him or something for those comments.

It's Randy Moss. Really?
Honestly when it happened I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

by Tarkus on Nov 1, 2010 3:10 PM CDT up reply actions

When Parcells left Dallas, Haley was interviewed for the HC job.

Haley told Jerry Jones he wouldn’t agree to being the Cowboys’ coach if TO were still on the team. Is Moss less of a distraction than TO? I can’t imagine Haley being interested and jacking with the excellent team chemistry they seem to have established.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

Is wishing they could rethink that decision :)

Moss hasn't really been that bad since he left Oakland.

True, Pioli has good insight into what Moss brings to the table and what kind of distraction he might be.

What I always heard was NE traded for Moss because they thought their locker room was strong enough to handle him, that they had a strong enough team culture to handle Moss’ antic. Have the Chiefs created such a situation yet? I think it’s obvious the team culture is much stronger here now, but has there been enough time to handle a guy like Moss.

Other than...

The fact that he whined himself off of two teams this year, through 8 weeks.

by Tarkus on Nov 1, 2010 3:12 PM CDT up reply actions

I don’t think Moss could be anywhere as bad as TO was for Dallas or San Fran. He really did not have much trouble in NE aside from that debacle last year with missing meetings which involved a few player’s if I remember right.

Anthrax, ham radio, and liquor.

by KeyboardGato on Nov 1, 2010 2:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, That would be shady if he went straight back to NE.

I’m gonna go sabotage Minnesota for a few games then throw a fit and get released then go back to NE. That’s like stealing Minnesota’s lunch money and kicking them in the balls!! haha. Sure would be nice if he came here if he brought the Randy Moss of NE from 2-3 years ago.

by MelNerz on Nov 1, 2010 2:22 PM CDT reply actions

Speaking of Shaun Smith

If anyone can keep Randy in check, it’s Shaun. He will pull a Brady Quinn on him or a tug and twist if Randy becomes a distraction.

Would make sense if it were a divisional opponent.

Seems to elaborate a plan for an out of conference team you play only once every 4 years.

Very true, very elaborate.

I couldn’t actually see that being the real reason, but just the idea of it is kind of funny to me.

I said nothing about grabbing, ala Shaun Smith. :)

Could we ask Buffalo to pick up Moss and then send them a late pick?

Right

My point was that MN will not be picking up his salary, unless he clears waivers.

Then again, if NE is last on the list they have zero motivation to claim him if he wants to return there. If he clears waivers & resigns with NE after then MN WILL have to pick up his salary….damn.

If he clears waivers and re-signs with the Pats on the Vikings' dime. that's hilarious.

If I were a season ticket holder in MN, I would cancel them for something as ridiculous as that.

I say it's worth a shot

Cassel is familar with him, he’s an upgrade over Chambers at the #2, and if he has an attitude problem with the team he can be released immediately.
