OFFENSIVE KEYNOTES
*When Peyton Manning was doing an audible. If it was an audible for Dallas Clark on a passing route. Clark would turn all the way around. If it was just to change the blocking scheme. Clark would only turn halfway. When Manning was changing the call for Reggie Wayne, he would change the call to a Slant or Fly. And would give Wayne and X factor signal.
*The Colts love to use clear out routes to get their man running the out route open. Inside the 10, they love to us crossing routes like the outside man runs a in route. Inside man runs a corner route.
*When Peyton starts to gets rushed and flustered, he will throw across his body. Or overthrow his receiver.
*The Colts love to use twins to one side, and have Reggie Wayne or Dallas Clark one on one the opposite side for a slant.
*The Colts only ran the FLY route on 1st or 3rd down to Wayne and with Dallas Clark running an out route on the same side.
*When it is second and five or less in shotgun. The colts ran the HB Draw.
*The colts are strongest on their left side when running the ball. RT Ryan Diem is their weakest link in pass blocking.
THE COLTS DEFENSIVELY
*They only like to blitz in short yardage situations on third down. Or in the final minute of the game. The rest of the time, their linebackers were 5 yards off the ball in cover 2 waiting, attacking and over pursuing.
*The colts two best defensively players are Dwight Freeney and Gary Brackett. The rest of the defense is sloppy in their tackling. And overly aggressive.
*The Colts safeties bite hard on play fakes. And the corners give 7 yards cushions. Kelvin Hayden is the colts weakest player in the secondary.
*The defense gets caught with their pants down in misdirection. And they only bring up the strong safety in the box when they have gotten gashed 5-9 yards, 3 plays in a row.
*The Jags neutralized the pass rush of Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney by doubling them with tight ends, the line and fullbacks. The Colts defensive tackles are below average at best.
*The Jags successfully ran reverses, WR Screens, HB Screens, counters, stretches, bootlegs, rollout and dives with ease.
Overall, this is the weakest we have seen the Colts in quite sometime. They have a lot of players banged up. Joesph Addai, RB- Hart, Dallas Clark took a serious shot to the ribs, Melvin Bullet their SS tore something in his shoulder. He was the guy replacing Bob Sanders. All of them got hurt in that game and had to leave at one point. Bullet and Hart never returned.
In the end it comes down to us gashing them in special teams. And punishing them with our running game and forcing Peyton into baited turnovers. He had 1 interception in the redzone, another almost interception (baited on fly route) that would have ended the game had the corner held on. And Wayne fumbled inside the red zone.
It is there for the Chiefs taking. Just a matter of getting into Manning's head. It is the Chiefs D vs Manning for 4-0.
