Blogless Colts fans WELCOME HERE!!!
Wow,
Checking out the Colt's site right now is like driving by a train wreck. You don't want to look, but you just can't help yourself. We at Arrowhead Pride are SO fortunate to have Joel & Chris (I got you first this time Joel), and all the great contributors that do such a great job. All the great analysis from Bewsaf, Kalo, and the great stuff from Porkchop, Krayfish, and although I seldom agree with him, Upamtn - GOOD Stuff! Please give the shoutouts I missed in the comments section (yea MN I'm talking to you)
While the trash talking has been fun, and I like KCs odds more and more all the time (except the part about Peyten Manning being at home and desperate), I just don't see how we can't offer up a little KC hospitality.

Anway, since there seems to be so many Colt fans that are either banned or disgruntled with the Colts site, that there seems to be almost nobody there to talk football, I feel we should open this up to give Colts fans a chance to discuss the game with us, What do you all think?
Notice I didn't blame this guy?

So, Colts fans, let's talk
*Peyten Manning, better than Marino?
*Who's going to start at Safety this week?
*How much better are the Colts at home?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

I've spent some time today checking in on that insanity over there...
It’s sad. There have to be a lot of Colts fans out there in SB Nation.. the fact that they’re hiding out at their rival’s blog if fucked up. Looking at Stampede Blue, I’m not seeing a lot of traffic (comments/posts/etc). Someone should talk to the SB Nation big wigs and possibly try to petition for a second Colts blog to be added.

Tried and failed.
Actually, we were told they essentially told us nothing was changing and to be happy with it, and that BBS was okie-dokie… Then BBS went on another 2 or three banning sprees.

I've told this story before...
But my bro and I went to the Chiefs-Colts Playoff game in ’06.
I drove from KC, and that week online we found SEVERAL tickets available at Face or less than Face value.
We got 50 yard line, 3rd row, upper deck seats, for Face.
When I picked them up, the guy said, ‘yeah, we don’t get real excited until they get a little deeper in the playoffs.
They are the Braves fans of the NFL. It is what it is. If they are in this thread, sorry…you can disagree, but I’ve been to 12 different NFL stadiums (and to be fair, this was your old stadium) but the fans were towards the bottom of the list of stadiums I’ve been to, and this was for a playoff game.
That’s not to say there aren’t good and great Colts fans, I know that there are, I remember meeting some of them in KC at our home playoff game in 03. There are also great Braves fans, and Rays fans…and those people deserve a good blog, dammit!
That's because that game was a guaranteed win
I be up, up, and away. Up, up, and away, 'cause they gon' judge me anyways. So whatever.
Ive been to MANY Colts games
and I politely disagree with your assessment. The stadium has always been full. Hell, I went to a game against the Titans where fans KNEW the Colts were gonna play Jim Sorgi for most of the game cause they already had playoffs clinched, and it was still packed.
Our heads may be bloody, but they are unbowed. We will be back next year better than ever!

That game had a shit load of Chiefs fans
I remember watching it on TV.
I be up, up, and away. Up, up, and away, 'cause they gon' judge me anyways. So whatever.
This was the year the Colts won the SB
I don’t think a road fan should be able to pick his choice of seats in a stadium for less than or at face value for a team that is contending for the SB.
Things may have changed. I’m willing to listen to that argument….I will say that typically ‘new’ stadiums equal more expensive seats and less passionate fans. Maybe that didn’t happen in Indy, but the atmosphere at that playoff game was disappointing. Not near as disappointing as the Chiefs offense that day, but disappointing nonetheless.
I went to that game also
And from a Colts fan’s perspective, I think it’s because we had the collective wind knocked out of us. Remember what led up to that game — we started the season 9-0 and looked to be on a roll, then we coughed one up to Vandershank and the Cowboys for our first loss (though it was enjoyable to see Vandy completely blow two FGs in that game). We ended the season with a loss @ Tennessee, a loss at Jacksonville (where MJD/Fred Taylor rushed for infinity yards against us), and a loss at Houston on Christmas Day (with a last-second game-winning FG). We won the last game of the year (vs. Miami, I think), but there wasn’t much momentum going into the playoffs. Many fans were expecting another early playoff exit at the hands of another rush-heavy offense from Kansas City. The fact that lots of seats were still available does not surprise me — much of the fanbase was deflated after a very mediocre finish to the season.
However, those people didn’t account for #21 returning for the playoffs. They didn’t account for the fact that the regular season was over, and now 12 teams were all 0-0, and everything was equal again. Once we beat up on KC and squeaked out a very defense-heavy battle in Baltimore, fans were extremely passionate and optimistic for the AFCCG against the Patriots. I attended that game as well, and it was exponentially crazier than the wild card game. Fans had that “this is our year!” feeling, and it lasted for most of the first quarter. Once Peyton threw the pick-6 to go down 21-3, though, it felt a lot like the end of the regular season again… fans were relegated to “only” making it to the AFC championship game, and I even saw a few leave at halftime. Down 18 against the team we could never beat in the playoffs… I couldn’t blame them, but I had no interest in joining them.
The rest, as you know, is history. Easily the greatest sports moments of my life, which includes the Super Bowl victory vs. the local rival Bears two weeks later, and IU’s NCAA championship game vs. Maryland in 2002. The game finished somewhere around 10pm, and I had class the next morning at 9am, but Indy was partying all night. I left around 2am and it seemed like I was one of the first to leave!
Because I live in Texas now, I’ve only had the chance to go to one game at the new stadium (and sadly, it was the infamous Week 16 debacle last year… ugh). It was just as wild as I was hoping, and I suspect last year’s playoff games vs. the Ravens & Jets were even crazier. The RCA Dome was much louder just because of the smaller design of the building, but I firmly believe the Colts will fill each game with tens of thousands of passionate fans from here on out.
Oh...
And there were a ton of Chiefs fans…and we were all pretty miserable.
But if I remember, we technically had the closest of all the Colts playoff games that year.
False.
Chiefs: 23-8 = 15
Ravens: 15-6 = 9
Pats: 38-34 = 4
Bears: 29-17 = 12
The Chiefs game was the most lopsided of them all.

I went to the playoff games last year
And didn’t get that sense at all from any of the fans. Like Coltsfan723, I’ve been to two different “Sorgi Ogji’s” where all of the backups played all game, and the crowd still filled the place up.

Mostly because I was there.

Oh. Guess I should've read these posts too.
Looks like I was correct (my post above). I’m glad to hear that fans are bringing the passion at the Luke. It might not be as loud as the RCA Dome was (I guess that’s because we don’t pump in noise through the speakers anymore, right? ;) ), but it’s great to hear that we still give our team that huge home-field advantage, especially when it matters.
It’s just a shame the crowd couldn’t will Painter to be good last year vs. the Jets. I sure as hell tried though.
I thought we were in Baltimore for that game
Weren’t they seeded 1st or 2nd?

I think he's talking about 2009
Yes, the Ravens were a 2-seed in 2006 and we played in Baltimore, but it was #1 Colts vs. #6 Ravens in Indy last year.
Speaking of 2006 playoffs
Who else was rooting for the Patriots for the one and only time ever to win their game vs. San Diego (which would give us the AFCCG at home)?
When the Chargers DB intercepted Brady at the end on 4th down, I was thinking “damn, they can just fall down and it’s over”, then the jackass (I forget who it was) tried to keep running with it, and ended up coughing it back up to the Pats, giving New England a fresh set of downs. All he had to do was go down (or even bat the ball down… he didn’t even need to catch it to turn the ball over on downs!) and it was over. Instead, the drive kept going, and the Pats scored to win, letting us play the AFCCG at home vs. the Pats instead of a road game in San Diego.
Then, in the AFCCG, Marlin intercepted Brady in the final minute. I immediately screamed “HOLD THE BALL AND FALL DOWN!!” The Indy coaches must have warned the DBs about this exact situation — he hits the turf and begins making snow-angels on the field. Victory formation, handshakes, and celebrating. Ahh, sentimental tear.
I remember that
When Marlin intercepted Brady, my mind flashed back to the SD game. I think Marlin’s did too. He took a few steps and then slid down and stayed down. It actually took a few seconds for a Patriot to tag him.
At that time, given our history with Patriots, I wanted SD to win (we didn’t quite have a history with SD yet). But after the SD-Patriots game, I felt like there was something right about playing the Pats for a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

I was rooting for the Chargers.
Didn’t really hate them back then – i still don’t really hate them, only Rivers.
"It's the greatest job in the world until Peyton comes off the field and you think his thumb might be broken and there's three minutes left in the AFC Championship Game and you're down by three to New England and you haven't taken a snap all year. Yeah, it's a great job until that point." - Jim Sorgi.
"If I couldn't play for the Colts, I would probably stop playing football." - Peyton Manning.
My only logic
Was that if the Pats won, the game would be played in Indy (Colts were the 3-seed; Chargers 1 and Pats 4). Playing the game at home vs. a team I truly despise was, in my mind, preferable to playing the game on the road vs. a team I didn’t care for. I wasn’t indifferent, as they killed our 13-0 streak in 2005, but I didn’t hate them (yet) either.
I was too.
I had season tickets and really wanted to go to an AFCCG. It was very frustrating rooting for the Chargers because the Pats kept trying to give that game away.

Thanks for the hospitality. :-) We had intended on having an "Ask-a-Colts-Fan" post to interact and answer questions
But we were beaten to the punch (which was odd considering someone’s thread rarely gets put up before Thursday at the earliest).
Anyway, with the questions, here are my answers.
1) I think that Manning is probably right on par with Marino as it is now, which is saying something because Manning still probably has another 5 years or more of competition in him. When its all said and done, I don’t think there will be any doubt Manning is the best, but as it stands right now, I’d say Manning is probably standing toe to toe with most anyway, but thats just personal opinion.
2) The starting safety is going to be tricky. With Bullitt out now in addition to Sanders, we’ve got 4 backups who may be able to fill in now. Those four are Aaron Francisco (a former Colt who mostly spent most of his time on Special Teams), Brandon King (a rookie out of Purdue who is a converted corner and coming off the contagious hamstring injury), DaJuan Morgan (a third year safety we acquired through free agency) and Mike Newton (a rookie safety who did well in the pre-season and was on the practice squad). My personal belief is that Francisco and Newton won’t have time to get up to speed on the current signals and game plans to be in this week, and Brandon King is still recovering from injury, so the safest best is for Morgan to get the start. Play in practice could easily change that though.
3) The Colts have not lost at home following a road loss since 2002. Mathis and Freeney have over 2/3s of their strip sacks recorded at home, and the crowd can be as loud as anywhere on defense. The fact the Colts essentially gave the game to the Jags (the Colts lost the game more than the Jags won it), will also mean that there should be sufficient impetus to go out and perform exceptionally well. Doesn’t mean anything if the defense still isn’t cohesive, or if the offense gets a case of the dropsies again, but as a Colt fan there is enough to be less concerned about.

Do you think Manning will have to win at least one more
To be considered the best ever?
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.
Personally no.
The QBs who have won more than 1 Super Bowl have been supported by significantly powerful defenses. Rothlisberger had the backing of one of the traditionally strongest perennial defenses in the league. Brady was carried to the Super Bowl by his defense and kicker more often than he got there on his arm.
Manning has won a Super Bowl in spite of having very poor defenses for much of his career. That said, I do think Manning will win another Super Bowl or two before he retires, but even if he doesn’t, his body of work, his leadership, and his personal effect on the team will make him the best QB of all time. That is just personal opinion though. There will be plenty of reasons to argue against him being the GOAT, like there are with the other contenders, but I personally feel he’ll be worthy of that title without another SB victory.

It's just tough to argue against Montana
If you’ve only got one SB victory.

Yikes, do we need to keep rehashing this?
It’s a delicate situation, and obviously any fan of any team is more than welcome to come and join the discussion on ours (or any) of the SBNation blogs. We welcome the Colts fans with open arms and encourage them to contribute to this fine community as valued members. That said, do we need to keep piling on another SBNation blog and its members and kick it while it’s down? I know some that have come from the site have said they’d rather not draw attention to the situation, if only for traffic reasons.
I’m not trying to jump on you specifically, cpa913, because some are interested (and I know you’re intending for this to be a game question/answer post), but it seems many good discussions with the fellow colts fans are devolving into explanations and trash-talk of the aforementioned site. Maybe after this, can we place a moratorium on the goings-on of the aforementioned site and continue focus on the game?
Keep up with the good work, and I hope this turns into an excellent game evaluation discussion FanPost.

A plate of the KC’s finest ribs? I would have thought perhaps a bowl of beans and a place to chat would have been enough.
Serious now- wow, the Blues site is blowing up.
Go Chiefs!
Oh, to answer the questions at the bottom
*Peyton Manning, better than Marino?: I personally am under the belief that by the time Manning retires, he will be considered by most to be the best quarterback of all time.
*Who’s going to start at Safety this week?: I’d guess DaJuan Morgan, since he filled in last week, and is already caught up on the playbook.
*How much better are the Colts at home? A LOT. The Colts have one of the best home field advantages in football. Similar to what you guys have at Arrowhead, and Seattle fans have at Qwest.

Well Mr. NFL-
I agree with you on Peyton to a point, He is good- real good, but like one of my Favorite Q-Backs of all time, you have to provide a defense to his team. Alas your team does not provide that. Sunday will be a tough game for both teams. Good luck.

Bassbustin, what does this have to do with whether or not Manning is or isn't (one of) the best QB's ever?

There are detailed replays that show his palm was open
no punch was thrown, meaning he was “legally” blocking his man, you can see the play was still going on, maybe the last push was unnecessary but that is only a 15 yarder

Well had a brain fart!
Bolts- Colts- same should a beens! Sorry Colts fans that appear top be homeless, been a long day.
Go Chiefs!
In my opinion
Peyton Manning is technically as good as Marino but has benefited from an easier NFL, and a much better supporting cast. He’s no better than Marino, who to me, is the best QB ever.
As many have mentioned, Francisco may be a starter, but I’m hoping it’s Newton, the guy they signed off of the practice squad. He was awesome on film in college, though I never really watched him all that much. That’s how bad it is. I want some no-name guy who looked awesome against crappy competition on film to start at safety…
The Colts are incredibly good at home. They haven’t lost a meaningful home game since the refs screwed Freddie Keiahou into a crap PI call in Sept. 2008. That said, LOS (Lucas Oil) is about 10 times quieter than the RCA dome, and with the weather being so nice this week, the roof might be open, making it even quieter, and making the Colts fans sitting in the south end zone irritable (because they’re baking in the sun, and are pussies in general). I’m a season ticket holder, and I’ll be drunk, and I’ll be there making noise. But I don’t know if I can get 50,000 other people to be as loud or as drunk as I will be.

OK
So I ask every week about the teams Management.
So far.
San Diego is a mess with AJ Smith withholding talent from Norv Turner that doesn’t really know how to use it anyway.
Cleveland is a mess with a New President Holmgren and his Assistant passing guru to help the OC and Mangini implement the West Coast scheme.
San Francisco is a mess with Singletary trying to motivate emotionally the vast talent he has aquired and not teaching them HOW to play the game. Out with the OC Jimmy Raye.
So what is the Colts story?
What does Christenson do?
How is Caldwell helping after Dungy put him in charge?
Do you all have a Defensive Coordinator?
Is Bill large and in charge of everything Draft and talent aquisition and scheme?
He will lead us from the Wilderness and then fade away when we are in the Promised Land.
Christensen does the same thing as the last guy. He sits with Peyton and develops a plan
And throughout the game gives Peyton suggestions and observations.
Caldwell just calls timeouts at the wrong times (sensitive area), but in all seriousness, he does essentially nothing different from Dungy.
Our defensive coordinator either can’t get the defense to adjust quickly, or he is incapable of adjusting his philosophy to match the game plan. At this point there have been enough breakdowns by players that I’m not ready to lay blame at his feet alone.
And yes, Polian, aka teh devil, runs basically everything, although at this moment his sun is taking over drafting (supposedly). Talent acquisition is basically kept in the family.

Who owns the team?
The Polian family?
He will lead us from the Wilderness and then fade away when we are in the Promised Land.
No, Polian and his family are just the GMs of the team
Jim Irsay is the current owner, and his two children are likely to inherit the team as it makes up something like 75% of their family’s wealth.
Still, I don’t see the Polian’s leaving their position of GM any time soon. Bill’s son Chris is already starting to take over a number of the duties of GM, and looks to be getting a head start on being a fully functional GM in the coming years.

Would you say the team has progressed
over the years sans Manning as the QB?
He will lead us from the Wilderness and then fade away when we are in the Promised Land.
Sorry to jump in here
But it depends on what you mean. Of course the team has progressed since 1998. It’s made two Super Bowls. Has the team progressed since Manning peaked or entered his prime? That’s a different story. It’s hard to define “progress” for a team that was pretty much playing at it’s highest level. If you’re expecting every year for the Colts to get better, and you notice they haven’t, I guess you could point the finger at the high dollars the front office has spent on Manning, a few defensive all-pros and the skill position offensive players. But I’ll take yearly playoff appearances over progress any day. Ask again when Manning retires or starts to suck.
"You're hitting the wrong person. Don't you know you're hitting Ron Artest?"
Come visit The Fantasy Ninjas. We'd love to hear from you.
The team rides on Manning though
and Bob Sanders.
I am just trying to understand the thought. The Chiefs were happy to get to the playoffs and could never grow their own Manning. We as fans were excited to go to the playoffs for many years and the QB/Kicker would sabotage the effort.
He will lead us from the Wilderness and then fade away when we are in the Promised Land.
If we ride Bob Sanders, we are in trouble.
Fact is that IMO Bill Polian has a greater impact on the Colts as a franchise than Manning, simply because I have faith that Polian will have us in a position within a couple years before or after Manning retires that will have us at least competitive. We won’t get another Manning, but we could at least have a solid enough team to compete.

and Freeney, and Clark, and Wayne
But mostly Manning. It sounds like an arrogant culture, or one that takes winning for granted, but I think the understanding has been that since management realized Manning was as good as he is, they’ve done everything in their power to contend while they had him. Trust me, we remember what it was like to cherish every victory.

Freeney and Mathis are extensions of the Manning Offense.
We used to have DT and Neil Smith, get a lead and unleash the Sack Masters. Worked for Marty

The team doesn't rely on Bob Sanders.
The Colts’ most indispensable players IMO are:
1. Peyton Manning
2. Dwight Freeney
3. Jeff Saturday
4. Reggie Wayne
5. Gary Brackett
6. Robert Mathis
#1-3 are absolutely vital, as in we would be doomed without them.

Eh... Saturday not so much as "vital"
He definitely has a major impact but we can survive with Richard at center.

Although I think if Hughes develops like we think he should....
I could see the vital nature of Freeney slowly start to fade as well. If Angerer develops, the same goes for Brackett. If we can get Gonzo or Garcon healthy, or White to develop in the next few years the same may be said about Wayne in a few years time. This is the one thing about the Colts that I think will keep us competitive. As one essential cog gets old, we find a new one to slowly replace him with. We do fail from time to time (see Ugoh), but thus far we’ve been fairly effective.

Nah
There’s no replacing Freeney or Manning. But yes, we are attempting to do just that with Freeney, and I expect we’ll have someone ready a few years before Manning hangs it up. But there will be definite growing pains, which could translate into (hopefully only a few) awful seasons.

Well, it's a little different with the Polians
If Polian were a terrible GM, or a good one with a son who knew nothing about football he was just trying to nepotize into a nice gig, I’d agree with you. But as you Chiefs fans should know Chris would be a legit, hot, young GM candidate for any team in search of one. He’s been around the game since the mid-90s as a front office pro, and seems to have inherited his dad’s talent evaluation skills. It sucks we kind of cornered the market on Polians, but it is what it is. There’s no rule saying he has to interview for other jobs, and with his resume and his dad’s track record, there’s no clear better candidate for the future, at least not at this juncture.

If so they’re idiots. He got hired for a reason. Sometimes coaches are coaches and players are players. Look at the NBA or NCAA men’s basketball. The best coaches were marginal players at best.

last year *I* was giving us crap for Haley ... and in my mind, it was well-deserved
he was off the wall and the anti-thesis of a professional head coach or a leader …
that said, he’s matured and grown dramatically in the last year, a fact that I’ve pointed out several times, and one that makes me think the guy could be a very good coach in this league … as long as he keeps his cool, he is cool

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
That is NOT how the Colts
run the GM position. Chris Polian is a league-wide respected scout (IIRC, other teams have tried to hire him away), and he has been Polain’s right-hand man in everything for several years. He has not been given anything because his father is a GM. Chris has worked hard to get where he is, and I have full confidence in his abilities going forward.

Well, ya. I mean I wasn't trying to imply he was a slouch.
Just that Chris looks to be heading towards a GM position with the Colts if Bill decides to retire in the near-ish future.

My comment wasn't replying to you.
It was replying to the Chiefs fan who accused the Colts of nepotism.

Now that you bring it up
Nepotism is the exact term for what is going on.
Corporate America frowns on that. Yet the NFL is full of it.

so would you agree

Caldwell > Haley

I’m inclined to give Caldwell the edge based on team track record, but the jury is still out on both of them.

The issue is Caldwell took over the Manning led (OC'd) Colts
Haley took over a 2-14 franchise with a Broken Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard and Tyler Thigpen. Now 1 year and a few games later who is sniffing whose butt record wise?

So would you rate any of the coordinators and the ST coach better than the Chiefs?
He will lead us from the Wilderness and then fade away when we are in the Promised Land.
I'm not necessarily a believer in "Patriots West"...yet
But that doesn’t mean our coordinators and assistants are better. I think it says a lot that most of them were “brought up” under a very successful head coach and have a lot of experience winning. But the same can be said for your Belichick tree guys (you just have to forget their head coaching failures in between coordinator jobs). I’d say the edge goes to KC, but only slightly.

yah, we'd like to think we've a good and successful group of coaches aboard
if the Chiefs are anywhere close to as successful for as long as the Colts have been for the last decade, we should consider ourselves most fortunate
that’s one helluva great organization over there

He will lead us from the Wilderness and then fade away when we are in the Promised Land.
I just read over the BBS fiasco
seriously, we’re lucky to have the brothers Thorman.. They create traffic by posting tons of front page posts that create solid discussion topics. Not that crap…
Site managers like that could seriously restrict the freedoms that bloggers like Joel have, being able to go into locker rooms and press conferences, because they’re lumped together as “bloggers”
Either way, I’m not much for inter team discussion but you’re definitely welcome here
2010 predictions live by em die by em
- Chiefs do what they did last year and double their win total.. Good for a second place finish in the AFC West
-McCluster is considered for ROY, doesn't win it
- Arenas takes two to the house
- Carr becomes a legitimate corner
-Flowers gets jipped in Pro Bowl voting
The Colts don't give bloggers any access anyway
But trust me, we’ve told him that this behavior isn’t going to change that. Thanks for the hospitality, but I’m a drifter. I’ll be moving along to the next team’s site to troll away by next week. Have to say though, KC fans are pretty awesome.

Not wrong at all.
Just be careful if you come to Arrowhead in teh future wearing a Colts jersey. I actually felt bad for a guy wearing a Mathews jersey at the MNF game. He was gone by the end of the second quarter.

Thanks NaNz.
A lot of people initially look at us as a bunch of crazed trolls when they see all of the friction that’s being caused by this whole outcry against BBS. They don’t see the whole picture. They only see 100 people ragging on one poor blogger that’s just trying to do his job and they feel bad for him. I don’t blame them. I’d have that same initial reaction. What they don’t see is the constant crap we’ve had to endure from this guy for the last year that has gotten us worked up to the point where we can’t remain quiet about it anymore and we’re lashing out, demanding change.
Fortunately, it doesn’t take very long for people to see through the whole “woe-is-me” routine to the real person beneath, because he is constantly writing offensive things. The Pat McAfee fiasco is just the most current example of this. The guy should not be representing Colts fans on a network like SB Nation.
We are the consumers and we are unhappy with the product we are being given. It’s as simple as that. Give the consumers what they want.

For having 1 of the most humble greatest players ever(Peyton)
Boy some of those fans are about as arrogant as you can get!
Here's an interesting an a telling stat.
Much has been made of all the dropped balls the Chiefs had last year…(50). I did a little research and found out that through and including week 4 games, the Chiefs seemed to have a fix on the problem. They’ve gone from 1st in the NFL to 24th.
More interesting than that is that the Colts practically lead the league, and are third in the NFL, and just a couple of drops shy of 1st in the NFL in dropped balls.

Good sign for Chiefs fans.

Actually, a small error...
Colts are only 1 drop away from a 3 way tie for most drops in the NFL.
"Well, gentlemen, you are about to see a baked Appel." ~George Appel~
- last words before being executed by electric chair in 1928.
But don't get too excited, because if Cassel had the same number of passing attempts
as Peyton, based on our current number of drops, if you do the math, we would once again be leading the NFL in drops.
I think.
"Well, gentlemen, you are about to see a baked Appel." ~George Appel~
- last words before being executed by electric chair in 1928.
Well, Peyton has I think it's 176 attempt after 4 games...
vs. Cassel’s 77 after 3 games. So, if we add an average of 25 attempts per game, Cassel would have about 102 attempts after 4 vs. Peyton’s 176.
I think it’s safe to assume that if Matt had another 75 attempts, you could add several more drops to our total.
It’s a total guess, but it’s hard to tell, if we’d still be leading the league in drops.
http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/tmleaders.asp?type=Receiving&range=NFL&rank=232
Draw your own conclusions, but I think we’re improving a bit.

Man I am truly sorry that they have that running their site
BUT, I am so grateful that we have Joel and Chris running ours. I would email whoever was in charge of the SB Nation and let him hear another persons opinion. But I do not know his email address.
Can’t believe I am going to say this…. but… sorry Colts fans! But he! Atleast you guys get to hear about your team all the time on ESPN or something, where we only get like 10 second GIF’s
if i am beating a dead horse on this question, i appologize
but what happened over there at the colts site? The main guy is over there banning people just because he can or what? Just picked up bits and pieces and now a little curious
Looks to me like he's made quite a few of them angry
Then when they rant and rave for things, like him putting words in one of the player’s mouths, etc., he bans them for using foul language. If you click on the links you’ll get the jist.
Well, in some cases he says, "foul language,"
half the time simply disagreeing with him invites a ban for, “inciting,” some thing or another.

Thanks for the props, cpa... So for any Colts fan-
What would you say is your biggest worry heading into the game against us, offensively and defensively?
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.
Depth is probably the biggest thing.
We are going into the game with very few backups at LB, and we only have one starting caliber safety on the roster.
Austin Collie is also iffy for the game, and Garcon is recovering from an injury. We signed a new WR but that was mostly as a kick returner, and is not likely to see time at WR. If we move Clark to a WR spot, then our only available TEs are Eldridge and Tamme, neither of whom are very good hybrid TEs like the Colts tend to like. Brown is looking like he’s going to be out as, as well as Hart, which means that we are down to just 2 RBs with Addai and Hart.
The only areas we really have considerable health is at the offensive and defensive lines, where most of the injuries are resolved or resolving.
I guess in short, the biggest worry is health. We have a functional team that will still be as competitive as ever because the offense has its major weapons still and the defense has its major play makers, but behind them we are lacking a lot of depth. Any more than one injury will probably prove problematic as the Colts don’t have a ton of flexibility with depth at the moment.
"I shall not fear. Fear is the Mind killer. Fear is the little death that leads to total obliteration. I will face my fear and let it pass through me. When the fear is gone, there shall be nothing. Only I shall remain."
-Frank Herbert "Dune" (1965)
Wow, that is a lot of injury issues
That’s one area we’ve been relatively lucky. Both our starting RT and LDE have missed significant time so far, but both their backups have played well and that’s pretty much the only issue we’ve had.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.
I know.
Honestly, we don’t have to worry about who is going to be active for a game, because we have just as many, or more players injured than have to be inactive for any given game.
