PrintThe Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills are tied at zero this afternoon in Kansas City. It's the end of the first quarter and it has been a quiet one.
The offensive highlight of the game was Jamaal Charles breaking off a 32-yard run. It was off the left edge, which Brian Galliford from Buffalo Rumblings predicted would be a problem for the Bills. The Chiefs' defensive line and linebackers are getting great pressure on Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Chiefs' D has one sack and one forced fumble already in the first quarter courtesy of Andy Studebaker, Tamba Hali and Wallace Gilberry.
Right now, it feels like our offense is on the verge of a big play. You could see that with Charles' run and some of the holes we've seen today. And our defense is on the verge of a big turnover with the way they're getting pressure on Fitzpatrick. Derrick Johnson dropped an interception (slightly behind him) that would have been identical to Week 7's pick-six. Heck, I might as well say I feel like Javier Arenas is on the verge of a big kick return.
Now it's all just gotta actually happen...

I've said it before, I'll say it again...
If we have to rely on Matt Cassel’s throwing ability, we will lose. He gets lucky on occasion, but he lacks the talent to be an NFL starter.
Forced it to Pope, late to Bowe, overthrew Charles by 20yds, and locked on to his receiver who was double covered, then was so inaccurate he hit the Bills DB in the numbers. Dude blows.

Sorry we are leaving way to many point on the field,I guess I am just old school.Take the points Haley.
ESPN had a great article awhile ago about going for it on fourth down
But think about it, a TD is worth more than double a FG (assuming you hit the PAT). So, statistically if you can convert those 4 and shorts in the red zone and score a TD, you don’t have to make it every time to be worth it. Let’s say we do it twice a game, and make one of them and miss one of them. We still end up with 7 points. If we had kicked the field goal in both situations, we’d only have 6. Not to mention that the potential exists for 14 points, whereas 6 is the maximum you get from taking the safe route. And with a bad snap or a defender jumping off the line for a block you aren’t even guaranteed those 6.
Haley likes to play high risk, high reward, but I’m not sure the risks are as high as a lot of people think.
As another aside, Todd Haley was definitely the reason we lost the Indy game. No one else was even remotely at fault. After all, if he had completed a few more passes along the way he could have led the Chiefs to another scoring drive or two. And don’t get me started on Haley dropping that TD pass from Matt Cassel in the endzone. If Haley wants to earn his paycheck, he needs to learn to catch the ones that hit him between the numbers.
In all seriousness though, if the offense had executed properly at any of several points during the game we could have easily won it. Haley and Weis can only coach the players and call the plays. If the team doesn’t execute, there isn’t much more they can do.
That drop by Bowe woudl have helped in the INDY game

Didn't mind the decision
Didn’t like the playcall. Jamaal Charles is averaging 10 yards a carry. Take away his long run and he is still averaging more than Thomas Jones.
Should have run the ball. Our right side of the line is still strong, but we can’t run to the left.
