Hall of Fame player, now coach, was introduced with much anticipation for this upcoming season. So much credit going to Coach Romeo, we seem to overlook other coaches who appear to have helped this ball club improve. As evidenced by the LB play, Coach Gibb's has deserved many kudos, but our secondary, young though they be, has been burned a few times.
So where is the love for Coach Emmitt? Is anybody in our secondary looking like they have improved this season? Brandon Flowers
is such a good athlete that he would be great without coaching? Right? Right? Who wants to give kudos to a coach of an athletic CB who is on pace to overthrow Revis as the best corner in the game? Well let me think about it. No guess work here, I am giving a big shout out to Coach Thomas for his work. Not only has Flowers responded with improved play from this mans ability to coach, Brandon Carr
has shown much improvement in his technique. Carr wasn't given much help with Andre Johnson
of the Texan's and we got burned, but watching his work showed that he had great technique, just not enough athleticism. Where were the safeties? Now our young safeties are learning ON the JOB, and have been responsible for giving up many plays which has cost us.
Are they making the same mistakes? Or not? Are they showing improvement after playing against two of the better QB's in the league? Sure enough, I think I have seen Berry learn from his mistakes, but in all likely hood he will make more being that he is a Rookie. Ditto for Lewis. Washington is an enigma to me, as he has such good physical talent playing safety. Perhaps he is a new hybrid type of DB that is evolving to counteract the high powered passing attacks made possible by rule changes? CB/S or just plain DB, whatever you call it he has bucket loads of speed. With game experience ALL of these young players should be showing improvement come seasons end and be ready for the playoffs - if we do not fold going down the stretch.
So here's to you Coach Emmitt Thomas for the fine work you are doing. Kudos to all the coaches who aren't getting their name called out for how this team has improved.
HOT DAMN!!!!! GO CHIEF'S!!!!!!!!!!!!
