Chiefs Confirm Roster Moves; Sign LB Mark Simoneau
The Kansas City Chiefs announced two previously reported roster moves: WR Jeremy Horne has been signed to the practice squad and DL Atiyyah Ellison has been waived. Ellison's release creates an open spot on the active roster.
Taking that active roster will be LB Mark Simoneau, the Chiefs announced on Wednesday. Simoneau and a trio of linebackers worked out for the Chiefs about a month ago.
Kansas City area folks will remember him as the linebacker at Kansas State. He came into the league in 2000 and has played for the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints.
Your distant Chiefs Connection is Saints head coach Sean Payton getting him in the Donte Stallworth trade a few years ago. Payton and Haley worked together under Bill Parcells.
Simoneau will be a special teams guy and fits that veteran mold the Chiefs talk about so often.
He spent 2009 on injured reserve with a reported torn triceps muscle.

Assets Very aggressive and nasty. Good speed and range. Drops into coverage well. Can rush the passer.
Flaws Lacks great size. Gets swallowed up by blockers. Wears down late in the year.
Career Potential Adequate starter.
It's all about the gameplan
and I guess swallowed by blockers isn't as bad as ...

Team Colquitt
Great special teams player
He has great tackling form. Good to see another Wildcat in the mix. I can see him coming in on 3rd down as coverage or blitz backer.

But can he pass Haley's conditioning test?
I’d hate to see him in the corner, working out on the exercise bike.
Going To Be The Next Todd Bouman
Hey – Simonau has only been out of football since 2007. I wonder if Trent Green is available to replace Palko (lol)

We now have 11 linebakers on the active roster.
plus one on the PS for a total of 12. That has to be most of any team in the NFL.
LBs are pretty valuable in a 3-4, my friend.
I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.
And usually linebackers are your best special teamers.
The views expressed by craig in calgary do not necessarily represent the views of all Canadians.
I realize that.
But a quick check of other 3-4 teams rosters, both active and PS.
Pittsburgh: 8
Baltimore: 9
New England: 8
Denver: 10
San Diego: 11
Miami: 8
With out checking all teams it looks like we probably do have the most LB’s on our roster, which was my point.
To me this makes me wonder if Vrabel is out this week
I understand he is mostly here for special teams and Stude will step in and start but this makes me think Mike is out this week, and Simoneau will be backing him up…
honestly I think we move up Pierre if that ever happens

Yeah, I don't see a new guy...
getting playing time over someone who has been in the system all year.
Mark Simoneau is an all football kind of guy.
I am glad to see him get a shot with the Chiefs.
"The Hammer"
HORNE STILL IN SYSTEM
Glad to see Jeremy Horne is still here. I think he must not be completely healthy and at some point they hope to bring him back to the 53. Don"t think him being released had anything to do with Tucker being better. Horne out performed him since training camp. I"m sure the coaches know whos future is best for this team.
Mark Simoneau
He’s always the one guy on Madden always a free agent, kind of old, but I always signed him becuase he was an upgrade. All in all, nice pick up! lol

wow thats a stretch
but props on making that connection to the chiefs
Solid tackler, Great Technique,... .
Good Hands to fend off Blocks. Good pick up. Long in tooth but will be good influence.
Kansas Kid
Mark is from Smith Center Kansas and they know a little bit about football. I really like this move not that he will have that much of an impact, but a loved member of the chiefs family, Mitch Holthus, is also from Smith Center. I just hope he can contribut on special teams.
