What to do with DJ?

Admittedly, I didn't watch yesterday's game but was pleasantly surprised upon reading the box score and the INT column tallying 2 for the Chiefs. I think the only thing sweeter than a DJ pick 6 is possibly Uric Berry's first career interception. It couldn't have came off a better QB either than the Bo-man, St. Cloud State's finest

In all seriousness, it appears that my beloved Derrick Johnson is having the year Zach Thomas thought he was going to have last year. We all know what happened with Todd Haley and DJ being in the doghouse, but with a respectable defensive coordinator in this year we're seeing a revitalized #56. Sports writers have even dubbed his performance thus far as "Pro Bowl" caliber. While it may be strecthing it at this point, it's not entirely out of the question. If he continues playing this well he's on pace for a career season which unfortunately for us it may be his last in Kansas City.

My question to you Chiefs fans, is if your name is Scott Pioli: what do you do with Derrick Johnson? I'm not asking you personally what you would do with DJ if you were Pioli. I'm asking what do you think Pioli is going to do?

Obviously, I hope it's he's given another contract. Not only do I feel he's been a good solier and earned it, but for the first time ever I'm seeing glimpses of a KC defense that potentail to be dominant. Finally all these years of spending draft picks on the defensive side of the ball is paying off with a huge hat tip to Romeo. I believe DJ is a big piece to the puzzle that is the KC defense and taking him out of the middle would needlessly create another hole. What we have here with DJ, Tamba, Dorsey, Flowers, and Berry is a foundation. A core of 5 players (nearly half the defensive side of the ball) whom all individually possess all-star talent. The more they go into battle and play with each other only the more improved & cohesive they become. Letting DJ go would be an impediment to the progress we've made on defense this year. Then again, if Pioli thinks he can get return value on a DJ trade I could see him doing it in a heartbeat. So AP, have at it, tell me how you feel & reflect in the poll what you think Scotty dog is going to do
