Why Cassel made me smile...
No, it wasn't his production during the game. It wasn't his two touchdown passes. It wasn't even that we won. It's because with two minutes left in the game, when Jackie Battle goes in for a TD to put us 21 points...and after the score takes a cheap shot from the Jaguars defensive line...the first guy in the scrum is Matt Cassel. Best visual of the day wasn't McCluster, Charles, Jones, Bowe or Berry on any of their great plays. It was Andy Studebaker picking up Cassel from behind by his waist and pulling him away from the altercation. Then, after Studebaker puts his down...Cassel runs pumping his fist in the air like a kid on Christmas morning.
Today was a good day.

If any of you are still on the fence regarding Cassel after today..
Well then, you might as well just wait in the car. ;o)

let him show
consistency before I take him seriously.
wearing the red and gold colored glasses is fun, but it doesn’t change the facts.
after a overall team effort like that and you are still being negative
the cassel hate needs to stop. After 2 games like that the haters can embrace his ambition.
“but it doesn’t change the facts” He’s playing great, and improving every game. I don’t get how people find shit to bitch about when things are going so well.
wow
where do you get hate from?
all I said is that he needs to show more consistency for me to take him seriously. if that’s hate, It hink the problem is with you.
and he isn’t playing “great” I can still run over the replays and count too many plays where he takes too long on the count. I can still see where his concentration needs work.
sorry that everyone doesn’t agree with you.
did Isay he “sucked”? no, I ddin’t.
Did I call him names? no, I didn’t.
I sad he was not consistent yet.
woo hoo
how mean of me to tell the truth.

GET outa here, like I said people just wanna find shit to bitch and whine about…makes me laugh…
YOU can look at any qb tape and find things that could have been better.
The chiefs and the quarterback are playing good right now " Let’s find something to bitch and whine about"
+1
No QB is perfect except for Peyton Manning.
Let him show consistency before I take him seriously.

Over the last 4 games we are 2-2, but it hasn’t been because of inconsistency from Cassel. Over that 4 game span he has thrown for 8 TD’s, 1 INT, and has a rating of 112.

Exactly...and rec'd
I don’t understand the anti-Cassel sentiment. Never have and never will.
Brodie Croyle has a hot wife!!!
Hey, so do I
And no one’s calling for me to be the Chiefs QB over Cassel… :)
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

Nfl.com has it
On the Battle TD run, they show everything that happened after the play. It’s quite amusing, but I loved it too.
My favorite scene from today would be Vrabel running out during a timeout
To help teach Studebaker. For some reason, that made me smile.
I would love to see one thing.
After Vrable retires from playing, I would love to see him here as a position coach. He really seems to have the drive and heart to help guys improve and learn.

I would like to see that too.
But I would bet all of my money on him coaching at OSU.
by ChiTownChiefs on Oct 24, 2010 4:33 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah
I would guess as a LB or special teams coach. All Ive ever heard is that he wants to end up back in Columbus and with OSU.
by ChiTownChiefs on Oct 24, 2010 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions
You'd think he'd rather be a coach in the NFL
I’m sure he could be a LBs coach for us

I didn't see him teach Studebaker
I saw him talking to Corey Mays about what he saw from the Jags offense. Then we went out and stopped them on the goaline. Great stuff.
There was an instance near the goaline -
Where Vrabel was talking to Studie with a ‘sense of urgency’ during a time-out.
They both had their helmets off (Studie gets it, by the way).
It was definitely a Kodak moment!

Yeah, he said a few words to Smith as well.
It was nice.

Having him here the last couple of years to help teach these guys Romeo's D
Was almost worth the 2nd round pick by itself.
Netting a starting QB from it makes it sweeter.
Chiefs - back in the playoffs in 2011.
im happy for cassel and hope that he continues to play the way he has the past two games but...
Im not going to jump on the cassel bandwagon until i see this type of play on a consistent basis and against a team with a pass D not in the 20’s trust me if he can keep doing what hes doing ill embrace him but until he shows it cosistently im still doubtful

I agree.
At the end of the first quarter, one would have had to be a blindly devoted Cassel homer to say he was playing like a NFL quarterback, since the only thing to his credit was no turnovers. However, he did enough the rest of the game, and even showed a bit of moxie on a few occasions. So I won’t quibble today. I’ll give him a bye of criticism for the next week, at least. I just hope he starts a long streak of proving me wrong about him.
yep
I won’t hop on the wagon either, but I also won’t speak negative about him after the way he and the overall team is playing.
Get off his ass
Its not easy to get in a rhythm when we were running every play.
You want Cassel to fail so you can go around work telling people “I told you so.” Go eat your crow and enjoy the Chiefs victory.
BTW, I am not singling you out. You are not the only one with this attitude.
who are you not singling out btw?

It's time to get off of Cassell's ass!
5 td’s and no interceptions, in his past 2 games. He is doing what this offense requires of him, manage the game, not turn the ball over and be able to pass effectively, when needed to. Let’s see, Brees had 4 interceptions today, McNabb had 3 or 4, Orton has 3 turnovers, Rivers is losing, and I’m sure there are alot more examples. Cassell has completed over 70 % of his passes, over the past 2 games, has had a passer rating that averages about 120. He actually had a better QB rating than Manning, in the game where he didn’t put up great numbers. He displayed against Houston that he can play well in a shootout, if necessary. He isn’t going to pass for 4000 yards, or 30 td’s, but we don’t need him too. I can see 3000 yards, 22 Td’s and 8 interceptions, if he continues his present pace. He also will surpass the 60 % completion mark, and may have already done it, and I can see a QB rating in the 90’s (he was at 84 before this game). It seems that most of the QB’s with the big numbers can’t do something Cassell has been able to do, win more than lose! He is improving weekly, gaining confidence, and he and Bowe are finally on the same page. You can’t hold him to higher standards than other QB’s, when what he is doing is working.
He will have off games, just like every QB in the league, and I’m sure we will hear about how he sucks, when he does. Is anybody saying Brees sucks? He also displayed some fire and aggression today, in the brawl, which will only gain more respect from his teammates. Give the guy a break!

AMEN
The guy’s giving it all he has…and getting better EVERY GAME!

Even saw the lights of the Goodyear Blimp
And it said Matt Cassel is a pimp.
Saw the post and took the first line of the song that came to my mind.
And yes it was a Good Day
For those who measure success with stats.
Matt Cassell:
QB Rating: 91.5 – 9th
Least Interceptions: 3 – Tied for 2nd with 3 other QB’s
TD Passes: 9 – Tied for 6th
Completion Percentage: 59.5%
Most important stat: 4 wins – 2 Losses.
Not bad for a “Highschool QB” (As called by Chris Carter on NFL Gameday).

Hey
Drew Brees at home couldn’t beat the Browns. Matter fact got stomped by the browns. He threw 4 pics. That must mean he absoulutley sucks huh?
Lol Im obviously on the chiefs bandwagon if im commenting on this site..
Im not a believer in cassel yet. I love the way he has played these past two game and hope it continues but i also know that hes doing it against two terrible defenses and many people are being blinded by the fact that he played ttwo good games. Once he wins a game for this team or plays solid against a good D i will believe. Also comparing Cassel to Brees is laughable he is no where close to the caliber of player brees is. I never said that cassel sucks if you read my comment. and new orleans is a completely different team they rely on thier passing attack where as the Chiefs rely on the run and only pass when they have to or to try and play head games with a team. Im sorry that you love Cassel and he can do no right in your eyes but i dont agree. I will admit he is playing good but im not going to go praising him until he proves over more than two games.

haha don't freak out. Learn to comprehend.
I asked you a simple question that could be answerd yes or no.
1. Where you gettin this bandwagon stuff?
2. I never compared Cassel to Brees
3. I never said I love cassel if you read my comment. I’m just not gonna say negative things when cassel and the chiefs are playing this well as a team.
You said it by default that i would think brees sucks even tho i dont think cassel sucks
bandwagon stuff was from post above yours. 3rd question is not a question

I was going to post the same thing.
The whole point I was going to make is that Cassel showed signs of leadership in this game. If I’m not mistaken, this is one of the things Chiefs fans were really bashing him about. As far as I’m concerned, a STARTING QB mixing it up with a DEFENSIVE LINEMAN over a cheap shot on A FOURTH STRING RUNNING BACK shows that he has developed a fire in his gut. Does Peyton Manning do this…especially with the game’s outcome already decided? Survey says…BZZZZZZZZT, WRONG ANSWER. If Ma tt Cassel didn’t earn the respect of the fans during that moment, then what the hell is it going to take?
