Chiefs Release WR Jeremy Horne; Promote WR Verran Tucker

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday night the release of WR Jeremy Horne.

Horne, an undrafted rookie out of UMass, came to the Chiefs in 2010. He made the roster after a nice training camp but hasn't made an impact on offense through five games. I'm a bit surprised at Horne's release.

(Update: Kent Babb of the KC Star reported earlier this week that Horne had an inflatable boot on his leg in the locker room this week. His release explains why he wasn't on the injury report.)

The Chiefs promoted WR Verran Tucker to the active roster from the practice squad. Tucker came to the team in training camp and has been on the practice squad the last five games.

At Cal in 2008-2009, he had 50 catches for 815 yards and four touchdowns.

So the Chiefs are swapping out one rookie free agent receiver with another.

Are you surprised at this move? I am a little bit.
