Jaguars vs. Chiefs: David Garrard Is Out; Trent Edwards Is Questionable

The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback situation is slowly but surely getting figured out before Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here's the run down on the Jags quarterbacks:

Star-divide

David Garrard: He will not travel to Kansas City with the team so he will be out. He hasn't practiced all week -- he stayed at home until Friday -- as he recovered from a concussion suffered last week.

Trent Edwards: He's going to be listed as questionable. He suffered a thumb injury last week against the Tennessee Titans. The Jags are saying he'll be a game-time decision.

Todd Bouman: He's the third quarterback and may be starting on Sunday against the Chiefs if Edwards can't go. He hasn't thrown a regular season pass since 2005.

Patrick Ramsey: He was signed this week and, if Edwards can't go, will be the primary backup to Bouman.

This is good news for the Chiefs. They may not know who the quarterback is but it won't be the starter.

Oh man...

I would hate to be a backup coming to play at Arrowhead for the first time since ’05!

Personally, I'd rather play the Jags at full strength

but this could be the perfect opportunity for Mr. Berry to have a break out game in pass coverage…pick 6 to the house.

9 at times for sure.

Flowers & Carr man up. Could be ugly for Bouman.

^ Exactly

We should win this game, no doubt.

But, we can’t sleepwalk through it. Don’t count any team an “easy win”…before the game is played.

Chiefs will. But...will Cassel?

10 + wins in 2010. Chiefs SHOCK the NFL!!! Mark it down.

Trent Edwards is a clown

’Furd went 1-11 his Senior year…how did this guy even make the league?

Stanfurd sucks.

When I was an undergrad

I saw MJD put up about 600 all purpose on Cal. In the 2nd half, they started using him on kickoff returns AND punt returns.

Dude is a straight beast. I say put 9 in the box and force them to beat Carr/Flowers in 1-on-1 coverage.

by Another Failed Tedford QB on Oct 22, 2010 12:36 PM CDT reply actions

That’s the plan even with the starter healthy.

The dude has dominated some games. No doubt.

Jackson could have played the last two weeks according to Babb

Wow, after playing so well in week 1 this is horrible news.

Maybe another Haley motivational move..

With Smith playing well maybe they want Jackson to feel some splinters in his ass and hope they catch fire.

by kcchief77 on Oct 22, 2010 1:07 PM CDT up reply actions

It's just so aggravating...

What could he have done to get on Haley’s bad side? It seems to me Haley is pretty easy to get along with as long as you are doing your job and busting your ass.

It’s almost like Jackson doesn’t want to be as good as his fans (like myself) want him to be.

Who knows really.

Just pure speculation. Hopefully he gets back in there this week and makes some noise. I agree its totally aggravating.

by kcchief77 on Oct 22, 2010 1:13 PM CDT up reply actions

He's still wearing a knee brace.

Maybe Haley just wanted to give him extra time to heal, since Smith was playing so well. Not everything has to be a conspiracy.

This.

Also, I question Babb's statement...

Since T-Jax didn’t even start practicing until last week (before the Texans game).

by Tarkus on Oct 22, 2010 1:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Haley stated in his presser today that...

Jackson was healthy enough to play last week. Not sure where Babb got the other week from.

Reort on Edwards from Buffalo...

I know his numbers are awful – but I am telling you if he’s given time he can be incredibly accurate. If the Chiefs face him and get no pass rush he can carve them up…he’s a very talented raw passer – but he has happy feet. to be honest I would rather face Garrard than Edwards if there’s no pass rush.

sorry guys this isn't good news.

How many times have we seen a joe somebody come off the bench and torch us….I hate it when a team playing us has thier QB go down….

When do they announce the 45 man roster?

It would be interesting to see whether they bring along Ramsey as the 3rd QB.

Given Edwards is listed as questionable, I’d imagine he will be.
