Monday Night Football: Jaguars Look Lost As They Lose David Garrard And Titans Game, 30-3

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be coming to Kansas City next week to play the Chiefs. On Monday Night Football tonight, they looked really lost in a 30-3 rout.

QB David Garrard left with a concussion, which is pretty significant news for the Chiefs. QB Trent Edwards replaced him and with the league's emphasis on concussions -- particularly with the hard hits in Week 6 -- you have to wonder whether Garrard will be playing.

Trent Edwards was on the Buffalo Bills last year but wasn't the quarterback when the Bills beat the Chiefs. He threw two picks on MNF.

The Chiefs are the early favorites to win and after seeing the Jags on MNF it's easy to see why.

The Jaguars visit Arrowhead Stadium and play a Chiefs team they beat 24-21 in 2009. That game was one of the lowest of the lows for the Chiefs last year as they dropped to 1-7. This will be an interesting game because so much has changed in a year (even though the players haven't changed much).

I stand by

my original statement

If we can’t beat that team at our house in convincing fashion, we shouldn’t get too excited about our playoff chances IMO.

I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

You can bet Romeo is seething

After seeing his D get torched like that 4th quarter.

And JAC is a team that you can blitz all day against. And Hali had a tough day and is likely very, very upset.

I would not wan to be Edwards.

I like it. Bold

And not really a stretch, to be honest.

We’ve played 3 of the best 7 offenses in the league, and we’re still ranked #8 in scoring defense. That’s amazing IMO.

by BJ Kissel on Oct 18, 2010 11:03 PM CDT up reply actions

No he can't

I believe that our worse corner (Carr) is more than capable of doing well against their best receiver (Sims-Walker). Never mind Flowers.

It is bad, bad news for a team if a D can cover their WR’s one-on-one, and I believe we definitely can do that in this next game (and most games not against teams like HOU and IND).

Hopefully T-Jax and Lewis will be back… Lewis being out hurt us more than I thought it would this game. We missed his speed and physicality.

I'd like to see Berry on some blitzes

I do remember him blitzing on one play

I can’t recall the particulars except I know it wasn’t a sack, but something good happened for us on the play.

This is still an NFL team

They looked like crap tonight, but they’ve still got talented players. There’s always a chance they could be any team in the league. You can’t count on blowouts. If the Jags get a few breaks and get an early lead, we could be in trouble.

Agreed.

The Chiefs aren’t good enough to count any game as a gimme.

by Tarkus on Oct 18, 2010 10:57 PM CDT up reply actions

And when the season started,

nobody expected us to have any gimmies. But, The fact that so many are expecting us to win now says a lot for our future. This may not be our year, but watch out next year and after. This year we’re playing with house money.

"2010: The year Mizzou gets over the hump. The year the Chiefs show the NFL that they're back. And the year Dayton Moore signs some washed up has been or never was to return us to the glory of the Royals not losing 100 in 2011."

by royaldaddy on Oct 19, 2010 12:04 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions

I kind of agree...

But we need more than 3 wins before I’d say that. I predicted 8-8, so personally, I’d say anything over that is playing with house money. YMMV.

by Tarkus on Oct 19, 2010 12:09 AM CDT up reply actions

Very true

Any given Sunday, and all that. I’m not sure what to expect in all honesty.

I’m just saying that if we want to be taken seriously as a legitimate team (by ourselves and others), we need to beat a team with less talent, worse coaching and less motivation.

I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

by MNchiefsfan on Oct 18, 2010 10:58 PM CDT up reply actions

I absolutely agree that to be considered a really good team, you have to win at home

and you have to win the majority of your divisional games. That was always Marty’s formula for success.

Very true

But they always seem to play the Colts well. Even the last couple of years with IND rolling over everyone, they still struggled against the Jags.

Other than IND, the Jags barely beat a subpar Denver team and allowed 26 points to the worst offense in football while beating the Bills.

All decent teams that they’ve played (TEN, PHI, and even an undisciplined SD) have absolutely throttled them. The Colts game looks more like an aberration than anything else.

I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

by MNchiefsfan on Oct 19, 2010 7:25 AM CDT up reply actions

agreed

after the loss to Houston.. That makes two games in a row we just couldn’t capitalize in situations where we should be winning..

I’m not too optimistic about this year.. But starting next year you can bet we’ll be a team that can win any game they play for a very long time

2010 predictions live by em die by em
- Chiefs do what they did last year and double their win total.. Good for a second place finish in the AFC West
-McCluster is considered for ROY, doesn't win it
- Arenas takes two to the house
- Carr becomes a legitimate corner
-Flowers gets jipped in Pro Bowl voting

we’re at home. If they can do this it will temper my doubts. We’ve been in two straight situations where we should have won the game, then lost it. We need to dominate the rest of our schedule if we’re going to be considered legit

My "audible" to Herm and Dilfer

If you were worth a turd at football, you’d still be in KC instead of a stupid ESPN show.

by Chief Willie Wildcat on Oct 19, 2010 12:02 AM CDT reply actions

Around 2 AM last night

It was the playoffs. The Chiefs were down by 3 with 1:07 to play. Dilfer sent Ginzalez in motion. Handoff to Priest Holmes and he grinds down to the 20. Dilfer heroically calls timeout. Backup Trent Green sends in the signals. To the line he goes. He takes the snap….. Tony G is open in the endzone…… He throwwwwws!!! Bam!!! Alarm clock starts buzzing. “Damn it! Why couldn’t I have been a Chief? Oh yeah, because I’m a joke. I’ll show them by picking the Chargers to win the division.”

"2010: The year Mizzou gets over the hump. The year the Chiefs show the NFL that they're back. And the year Dayton Moore signs some washed up has been or never was to return us to the glory of the Royals not losing 100 in 2011."

by woody555 on Oct 19, 2010 12:36 AM CDT reply actions

I just hope people aren't down about two straight losses.

They were losses against good teams, and we remained competitive in each loss. If this were last year’s team, we would have probably been blown out on the road each time.

The Chiefs need our continued support now more than ever, especially with the toughest hump of the schedule behind us. This team can and will bounce back.

I eat nails for breakfast, tacks for snacks, and I sh*t nickel.
