Chiefs vs. Texans: Brian Cushing's Getting Comfortable, Jacoby Jones Could Return
Here are a couple of updates on Houston Texans players for the Kansas City Chiefs game.
First up is LB Brian Cushing. He's actually not returning -- he did that last week against the New York Giants -- but it's just his second game back since a four-game suspension to kick off the season.
"I think you're going to only see him get better, but he played pretty darn good," coach Gary Kubiak said. "Hopefully, his body is just reacting (Wednesday) to his first time out."
Todd Haley was pretty impressed with Cushing earlier this week calling him a complete linebacker.
The next player is WR Jacoby Jones. He's been out with an injury and may return against the Chiefs. His big success this week actually doing some running.
"Jacoby is the same," coach Gary Kubiak said. "Now, I did watch Jacoby run today; it was encouraging, so we'll see. Everybody else, just some soreness and trying to get some guys back healthy."
Jones is yet another weapon in a weapon-loaded offense. It'd be nice if the Chiefs didn't have to worry about that.
The Texans have quite a few names on their injury report but it sounds like most will play.

if Kubiak thinks they're working through soreness now, wait till Sunday evening...

Injuries
Last Wednesday or Thursday Todd Haley made an interesting comment “At the Podium.”
Referring to injury lists, Haley said that teams with more depth can afford to rest players more often. I couldn’t find the actual quote without rewatching it and transcribing. :D
I think that might what we are seeing with the extensive injury lists and player statuses with teams like the Colts or Texans. They have depth on both sides of the ball that allow players to rest for games instead of playing every down.
If you look hard, you can even see the Chiefs doing it a little on our defense – the only place we happen to have a little depth.
Cushing is a complete linebacker
Or at least he was when he was cheating…let’s hope he gets exposed like Merriman did after he had to stop using steroids

Now this team will force the safeties to earn their money,
Because I was more worried about this Texan team playing at home, than I was with the Colts. B Carr is still 2 steps from the receiver at the catch, Arenas has gotten “burned” kinda regularly, and the safeties are playing too deep to make an interception. But the Texans are going to make this an offensive showing, which means Cassel and Co. will have to do the same. If the run game for the Chiefs yield little, then it’s all on the play-calling and Cassel has to step-up, in order to have a chance by the 4th qtr. Too many keys to judge this game, but the other personnel that needs to step-it-up is the KR unit, which may swing the game in our favor. Hopefully Cassel and Co. is within reach by the 4th qtr. P.S. Where is all the blitzing combos that are possible??.
I hope they are at their best.
So that they have no excuses.
meh...
