The trade deadline is approaching quickly and the Chiefs still seem to be weak at the Wr position. The Chiefs are in position to win the AFC West this season. I think since we have the chance to take the West crown this year the Chiefs will be thinking in a "win now" type of mind.
The play of Dwayne Bowe and the lack of plays by Chris Chambers this season have not helped our struggling QB Matt Cassel at all when given the chance. A couple of names have been rumored to be available that I think the Chiefs would consider.
Steve Smith is probably the biggest name that has been mentioned in the trade market recently. Smith missed the last game due to an ankle injury but should be back soon. Smith plays on an 0-5 Panther team that is in a contract situation they probably do not want and isnt part of this team in future plans. Smith posses tons of speed, playmaker, and is a guy that is good once he gets the ball in his hands. Smith would be a great addtion to the Chiefs roster to help them down the stretch.
Lee Evans is another WR that has found himself on an 0-5 team that is considering trading him off for some picks. The rumored picks for Lee Evans would be a 3rd or 4th rounder. Espn has speculated the Patriots and Redskins as possible destinations. I have to think if the Patriots are interested that there is a chance KC could be as well. Evans makes the most since to me because he is younger and would cost less but could produce for the Chiefs this season and a couple in the future. I would not be suprised to see the Chiefs chase after a WR before October 19th.
