No Wildcard Game for Larry Johnson

When former Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson signed on with the Cincinnati Bengals, it was reported that he would be the team's fourth running back.

Two weeks later, he ran for over 100 yards prompting some of us to wonder about this fourth running back report.

Well, maybe Marvin Lewis wasn't lying.

LJ is inactive today against the Jets.

After everything LJ went through caused - the Twitter incident, his release from the Chiefs and subsequent signing with the playoff-bound Bengals - LJ won't be in uniform for the second or third biggest game of his career.

I don't feel so bad for him.

Christ get over it already

The fact that this fanbase still lets LJ still get under their skin almost 6 months after the altercation bothers me….either way he got paid twice, and that should be what pisses you off..not the fact that he didn’t get a ring you dig?? Wake up to the business :) He won

by chiefnyc on Jan 10, 2010 12:09 AM CST up reply actions

six months after?

which altercation are we talking about here? to be fair, there’s been multiple. but as far as i can tell, six months ago he was slobbing all over the “egoli”/haley/hunt knob.

i’m trying to figure out how he’s won, this season. especially considering he wasn’t even
\ allowed to watch his own team get their ass whooped tonight.

He ain't under my skin...

…I use OFF Tick repeler. Keeps the parasites away. Did you notice how the Bengals fortunes turned for the worse once that pariah ended up in Cinci? Bwahahaha. Except for the whole Chris Henry thing that was just too damn tragic to laugh at.

Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!

I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.

But I'm cakn patna

“My father played for the coach from “rememeber the titans”. Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefley"

and now, LJ is getting just as much playing time as that “golf coach” in the playoffs…

“my father got more creditentials than most of these pro coaches…..google my father!!!!!!!”

at least his dad can beat up your dad!

Haley is the right coach who just needs good people around him, much like Cassel
Vince Wilfork will be Scott Pioli's top offseason priority and will be a Chief.

no one is taking shots at Larry’s dad, I feel bad for him, he was really embarrased throughout all of LJ’s incidents…personally, I would have too much guilt to represent my family that way.

Poor guy has to comfort himself with millions of dollars.

Prediction for '09: Chiefs are looking like a .500 team, especially considering Denver's inattention to D-Line, Chokeland's disarray, and a San Diego team that looks like it's on the decline. With a weak schedule, Chiefs steal a few and win between 7 and 9 games, and if .500 or better, will contend for supremacy in a weak division.

Personally...

I’ve softened my dislike for LJ. Somewhat, anyway. Hey, the guy did us a favor. If he hadn’t of Tweeted himself right on out of Arrowhead…he could have very likely ended the season as our starting RB. And we’d all still be wondering “what if” in regards to Jamaal Charles.

Beating this dead horse hasn't lost any of it's fun.

Larry has seen his last days as a starting running back. There is too much depth in the league to have to rely on 2.7, you’re better off taking your chances with someone else. Nothing about Daddy’s credentials will give him any leverage. I’ll take our golf coach over any washed up old man that couldn’t make it in the NFL.

by CO_ChiefJordan on Jan 9, 2010 5:13 PM CST via mobile reply actions

His father isn't a washed up old man

He’s an excellent coach churning out NFL talent at Penn State. Hate 2.7 all you want…but there’s no need to attack his father.

Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.

by YNinja on Jan 9, 2010 6:18 PM CST up reply actions

Easy Ninja!

I understand your perspective but this was no personal attack on Johnson Sr. Only LJ’s idea to incorporate his father as it serves some purpose to his inability to succeed in the NFL. I was referring to LJ as an “ol’washed up back”. Not his father. Regardless, I’ll always attack what’s used as an offensive. There is always a NEED to respond to attacks in that context when you want to gamble family to prove a point. He should have left his old man out.

by CO_ChiefJordan on Jan 9, 2010 6:46 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I'll attack his father.

Larry Sr. called up Vermeil about LJ’s lack of playing time during his rookie season, something that is egregiously unprofessional. When I first heard that I was speechless. That’s something parents do to high school coaches, not to a professional coach who had taken 2 different franchises to the Superbowl. And in hindsight, Vermeil couldn’t have been more right about LJ. The diapers comment was prophecy.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

Amen Rev.

So for actions like that, maybe his father is the culprit behind LJ’s absence of maturity… This whole time… Too bad his old man couldn’t turn churn out NFL talent through his own son.

by CO_ChiefJordan on Jan 9, 2010 7:20 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

It's official:

No Super Bowl ring for LJ this year.

My long, drawn-out predictions that no one cares about, nor will bother to remember:

1. Todd Haley will still be the Chiefs Head Coach up to the 2011 season.
2. Clancy Pendergast won't make it to the 2010 season and was never intended to. Last-minute hire for a position that needed to be filled.
3. Todd Haley will not be the OC at the start of the 2010 season.

Also safe to say Shayne Graham probably lost his job.

yeah it is too bad, most will point at the missed FG late...but really..they weren't going to score a TD there...

I would argue its worse to be on a "one and done" team (marty cough cough)....

than a pure rebuilding team. So, hahahahah 2.7 you bich. So glad I signed that petition. Your welcome everyone! (In MasterBlaster’s head he is quite convinced that it was his petition was the push needed to get the 2.7 axed)…agian…you are welcome:)

The only thing I regret is that we couldn’t get a draft pick outa him. Wasn’t he worth a 1st somewhere down the line (sigh).

by MasterBlaster7 on Jan 9, 2010 8:20 PM CST reply actions

Wasn't Clark the one who really wanted LJ gone?

I read an article on another site that suggest that Clark Hunt had a major say in the LJ’s release from the Chiefs.
