No Fine for Dirty Tackle By Ayers
The NFL failed to protect one of its most exciting players by failing to fine Ayers for his dirty and malicious slam of Jamaal Charles into the ground. Oh well, can't wait to see an angry Branden Albert maul Ayers pathetic ass to the ground next season.
(Edit by Joel: Ayers was fined $5,000.)

WTF??????
That’s ridiculous. Ocho Cinco gets fined for being funny with the referee with a one dollar bill, but this classy individual gets no fine for a full WWE body slam after the whistle?
"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."
Technically ...
It was more like a German suplex than a body slam.

I'm personally sending him a fine from me.
Maybe he’ll pay it and I’ll be able to skip a work for a few weeks…

that's bull
Prediction: With the #5 pick, the Kansas City Chiefs take someone we've never freakin` heard of...
that's bogus
that hit was one of the dirtier things i’ve seen in a while.
This was similar to the play on Terry Bradshaw years ago.
The league started instituting rules to prevent this kind of garbage. This is another perfect example of how such items are subjectively handled and seem unevenly applied. Take the hit earlier this year when a chief DB (Paige: I think) hit a receiver with his shoulder and was called for an illegal hit. Bad call by the official and made worst by fining Paige during the following week. This player pulls this stunt where a player could have been permanently injured due to a spinal injury & he is not fined. Poor job by the NFL!!

Page was not fined for that hit
And the NFL sent an apology to the Chiefs and Page for the call.

thats bull#$%
It was a totally malicious frustrated attempt to injure Jamaal and he should be fined.
Rediculous.
I’ve joked about the anti-Chiefs bias for some time now, but the more I see, the more I think I should stop kidding. Seems like it’s true. Jamaal was REALLY lucky there, if he had hit slightly differently it could have snapped his neck. You could see when they had him on the sidelines there was a bit of a “What the heck just happened?” moment while the coaches were checking him out.
I only got to see it on the highlights (funny it makes the highlights on NFL.com but isn’t a fine), it was scary to see him just go limp for a second, then was helped up. I did like how three different Chiefs (two linemen and Chambers I think) were immediately there backing him up. I half expected a fight.

Wow
I can’t believe he didn’t get fined for that, I bet if DJ did that to Moreno he would have been ejected from the game and fined. I was thinking Ayers would atleast get fined 50k for that bs tackle.

Especially considering the whistle had already blown since Jamaal's forward progress stopped.

I like your thinking...
Other than the fact it’s horrible to actually want someone to get hurt (not saying I haven’t before). Problem is though, we’d have to put him on offense. Put him in as a FB or something?
put him in as a tight end
line him up left of albert and just have him dive forward in get those knees

Life presents different challenges for all of us each day...
Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose at what we are faced with each day. Tomorrow is another day and a chance to redeem yourself if you had a bad day before. The NFL has decided to skip the chance at sending a message to the masses that this type of behavior will not be tolerated on the field. However, it leaves me no doubt that taking away pure human emotion and reaction to something good in lieu of “excessive celebrations” has now become clear that this is definitely the No Fun League.
The Kansas City Chiefs will have their day in the sun, sooner than later I believe. I would rather Roger Goodell skip the handing of the Lombardi trophy to Clark Hunt on that day and let someone do it who cares and appreciates this League and all of it players and teams no matter what their history has been. Shame on you Roger for not caring.

"For what we are about to see next, we must enter quietly into the realm of genius." Scott "Young Frankenstein" Pioli
Here is the email I sent Goodell
Dear Sir,
I read today that there was no fine levied against Denver Bronco player Robert Ayers for his late “body slam” of Kansas City Chief Jamal Charles in last weeks game at Invesco Field and Mile High.
The fact that no fine was given is disturbing in that it was CLEARLY after forward progress had stopped and Jamal Charles was in a defenseless position. With the all of the focus on head trauma that is being given by the NFL, it is unfortunate that this late slam was not punished. If Jamal Charles would have landed a few inches in a different direction, he could have sustained a severe head injury, or catastrophic back injury.
Please re-consider this lack of punishment of Mr. Ayers. I believe that this gives the wrong signal to the young players watching at home – seeing a viscous late slam go unpunished may result in copy-cat moves through high school and Pop Warner levels.
Yours very sincerely

but this really reminds me of the steve moore incident where another player drove his head into the ice breaking his neck. that player got suspended i think for a year or two. that could have definitely happened to JC. the intentions of both thug players were the same…to cause severe bodily harm. thankfully JC was luckier than steve moore. but just because JC was luckier does not mean the thug that went after him should be luckier. not only should ayers be fined but he should also be suspended for his actions.

ok, here is my take
Obviously we all want a fine for ayers…didnt happen
So why not officially make Ayers a hated player? Yes he is a Bronco, but I mean REALLY hated..Samie Parker/Larry Johnson with a dash of john lynch hated.
Personally I will be rooting for Ayers to get an MMA style smackdown from Albert, or…from charles himself on blitz pickup

I sure agree and think the letters are a great idea but the refs, the coaches, the
other players……..I thought that my reactions were maybe to severe but for a moment I thought he was knocked out. This really needs to be punished one way or another. Why wouldn’t Hunt, Pioli and Haley all be contacting the NFL. Charles seems to be such a neat young player and like someone said above, his career could have been ended.
Thought you might like to see some comments on this subject over at Mile High Report
Nope, he should get a raise.
Over at AP i see there saying it was a FULL 2 SECONDS after a whistle… if anyone thinks that these players can actually hear the first whistle… there crazy.

I was at that game
and there is no doubt that Denver fans thought it was cheap. When it happened there was a giant gasp from about everyone in the stadium…of course when the flag was thrown it turned into boo’s. You could tell the initial reaction from everyone was that it was cheap. Even if the whistle hadn’t been blown it would still have been a dick headed move.
Was great to see Jamaal come back in and keep running all over them. Just wish he would have gone for the nfl record.
Wow just wow...
