I'm back.

First of all, let me congratulate the Chiefs and all their fans.  The Chiefs played a hell of a game on Sunday and deserved the win.  They really took it to my Broncos.  But the real reason I created this post had something to do with a visit I made during the preseason.

I made a statement over here, before the season began, that I thought the AFC West was going to be a much tougher division than it was in 2008.  Somebody over here, not unkindly, wrote that they doubted I'd be back at the end of the season to stand by my words.

Well, here I am.  But before you all lambaste me, I just want to say that I still stand by my words.  Your Chiefs are noticeably better, and it's not just the improvement in their record either.  Your team got rid of some dead wood and gave some young players a lot of valuable playing experience.  The whole team just seems a lot more solid and headed in the right direction.

The Chargers improved their record from 8 and 8 to 12 and 4 and are a team everybody fears in the play offs.  Many are picking them to take it all.  I know, they've got a big monkey on their backs but I'm really hoping they get it done this year and I think they finally will.

I know my Broncos only went 8 and 8, same as last year, but remember that everybody, and I mean everybody thought the Broncos would be lucky to win even three games.  But believe me, this is definitely a team on the mend and headed up too.

The one exception might be the Raiders, but even they have shown some improvement.  It's not that they don't have some good players.  Let's face it, their problem is their owner.  They are not going to get out of their hole as long as he holds all the strings, but even the Raiders fans know that, at least the ones who are being honest with themselves.

Back at the beginning of the season, my statement may have seemed wildly optimistic, but I think every team in the AFC West is better.  And I'll go even further out on the limb, I think next year the whole division is going to be better still.  I don't know how long the Chargers have left on their run but I don't expect them to totally collapse either, not with Rivers as their QB.  And I would not be surprised if every other team in the division adds at least two more wins to their final tallies at the end of 2010 and I fully expect at least one wild card to come out of the West.

So there.  I did it again.  Go ahead.  Fire away.

I'll be back to see if I get any feedback, but just in case, I want to wish you all good luck and excellent health in the off season and see you next year.
