A look back at the Chiefs 2009 LBs Part 1

Here it is guys the second edition of a look back on 09. Today we look at some of the linebackers. I have broken down the linebackers into a couple different post since we have so many of them. So here we go....

Tamba Hali

62 Tackles. 8.5 Sacks. 4 Forced Fumbles. Safety

Lots of questions about Tamba where answered this season. As we all know Hali made the switch from DE to OLB in the 3-4 defense this season. Many people thought that this would prove too difficult for Tamba and it was even mentioned that the Chiefs would trade him. Thankfully they didnt! Tamba ended up having a career year in Kansas City this year ending with 8.5 sacks and an amazing 4 forced fumbles. Tambas safety ended up securing the Chiefs first win of the season against the Washington Redskins.

Andy Studebaker

28 Tackles. 2 Interceptions. Fumble Recovery For A Touchdown.

Andy Studebaker came into this season just hoping to find a way to make the Kansas City Chiefs roster and he did just that. Studebaker has been an understudy to the vet Mike Vrabel and stepped in a played for him while he was injured. Studie ended up making a HUGE interception in the game against the Steelers and went on to do it again in the same game. Andy also recovered a botched punt in the end zone for a touchdown against the Browns.

Demorrio Williams

117 Tackles

Demorrio Williams has been a silent leader for the Chiefs defense this season. Demorrio lead the Chiefs defense for 117 tackles and was overlooked by many people. Most people only remember seeing Demorrio jawing with ex Chief Larry Johnson after a tackle. I look for Mr. Williams to be back in KC next season making more tackles.

Derrick Johnson

37 Tackles. 1 Sack. 1 Forced Fumble. 3 Interceptions. 2 Pick Sixes.

Derrick Johnson found himself in coach Haleys doghouse very quickly and lost his starting role and only played on certain situations. DJ seemed to make the most of those situations by making a key sack on Ben Roethlisberger and a 70 yard interception against the Ravens in the season opener. DJ knew he was playing for his job in KC in the last week of the season and returned two interceptions for touchdowns to help the Chiefs defeat the Broncos.

So theres some of the linebackers...Who Stays? Goes? Suprises?
