Taylor Mays and Former Chiefs S Sammy Knight Keep the USC Connection
Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has mentioned on occasion that he still talks to fellow former USC quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart, as well as rookie Mark Sanchez. It's a USC connection thing he said before.
USC safety Taylor Mays also has a USC connection - former Chiefs safety Sammy Knight.
"He used to play at SC and was telling me about the situation and what to expect and how to take my game to the next level," Mays told Ed Thompson of Scout.com.
Mays also said he's had a few interviews with teams but it's unclear if the Chiefs are one of them. Yesterday, he drew the ire of one unnamed GM when he unnecessarily leveled a Citadel WR in a no pads practice.
Mays is considered by many to be the second best safety in the draft behind Eric Berry, but he even admits that his draft status is "very movable" at this point.
Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com also reports that Knight is currently in Mobile, AL taking in the Senior Bowl practices.
He played for the Chiefs during the 2005-06 seasons.

Heh.

I’d’ve figured it was a ‘man in the mirror’ thing.
Personally...
I like a starting quarterback that talks to himself. :-)

Just so long as it's not ...
“You’re good enough. You’re smart enough. And, gosh darnit, people like you …”
I think Taylor's going to be good
but his draft stock fell from last year to this year.
Zack Greinke for Cy Young!!!!!
I have heard the idea
of turning him into a ILB… Probably would not be good in a 3-4 but in a Cover 2 he would be B.A.
This worked out okay with Thomas Davis
Davis played safety in college, but did a reverse-Archuleta by moving up to outside linebacker.

Pollard Ring a bell
He reminds me of pollard – can’t cover but will knock some helmets off. I’ll pass on him would rather have pollard back.
