Broncos Rule WR Eddie Royal Out; Release OT Herb Taylor

A day after hearing that the Denver Broncos have ruled out their #1 WR Brandon Marshall tomorrow against the Chiefs, we hear today that Denver is also sitting WR Eddie Royal:

Royal is still recovering from the neck injury he suffered two weeks ago against Oakland.

The team on Saturday signed receiver Matt Willis from the practice squad to be the fourth receiver in the game against the Chiefs. Willis will join Jabar Gaffney, Brandon Stokley and Brandon Lloyd as the team's active wide receivers. Those four players have a combined 58 catches this season (40 for Gaffney, 14 for Stokley and 4 four Lloyd).

In order to make room for the new reciever, the Broncos also released offensive lineman Herb Taylor. As I'm sure you remember, Taylor was drafted by the Chiefs and rode the bench for a few years.

The Broncos signed Taylor just a few days ago.

The stars are aligning for a Chiefs win tomorrow. With Marshall and Royal out, the Chiefs can actually focus on stopping the Broncos' rushing attack. The Chiefs gave up 245 yards rushing to Denver in their first meeting of the season, something that almost assuredly will not happen with Denver's top two WR targets out.

Are you feeling better about tomorrow's game? You should be.

Whooo hoooo

BMarsh and Royal killed us last year in Denver. Me and the wife will be there ready for a win and put the Donks outta the playoffs

Predictions for 2009:

The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ

Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.

The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays

Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for

Chiefs 3-13

Looking for a big game from Charles!

Our defense is probably still gonna get torched. I just hope Jamaal Charles can get his 1000yrds against the Donkeys!! I do mean 1000yrds all in this one game lol!!

I think he gets it , in style, with a huge game, and a huge win...but mostly, even if blown out, haley will feed charles the ball and give him chances

Charles most likely breaks another 40 plus yarder to cap it….some say 1000 yards isnt much anymore, but its really more about having only his 8th real start mean 1k, and keep over 5 a carry with this line…that would be huge, and a confidence boost for the line…

Yes they do

But you have to admit that not having Royal and Marshall is a huge boon to the Chiefs.

I watched Josh's presser on B-Marsh

I think this is a big deal for next year

B-Marsh is a free agent after this year I think RFA and the way the coach has treated this situation, I dont see Brandon in Denver next year. Josh pretty much called B-Marsh a pussy, he made a point of saying that. Considering the fact that the Donks lied to Brandon about his hip injury last year can you blame him for saying something isn’t right when their doctors are saying he medically cleared to play?

And yes I would like the Chiefs to pick him up

I know with him and Bowe we would lead the NFL in drops every year but that would only help #7 defenders. Also given #7’s lack of ability to get the ball down the field, it would be useful to have a guy who can break tackles (Bowe) and a guy that can elude them (B-Marsh).

As much talent as the guy has...

…watching his actions in the offseason makes it hard for me to see him in Red and Gold next year. We’ve cut guys for much less, and we’ve heard Haley’s thoughts on Terrell Owens, so outspoken, whiny receivers aren’t exactly his bag…even if they’re talented.

He’s a weapon, for sure. I just don’t know how much the people in charge are willing to put up with for it.
