Romeo Crennel was known to have some good defensive teams with the Patriots. Lets take a look at what his numbers were while he was there. Just remember before he got the job the Patriots finished 2000 giving up 338 points. Here is a list of years and Points Against the Pats.

Patriots                             Chiefs by comparison

2001 - 272                         2001 - 344

2002 - 346                         2002 - 399

2003 - 238                         2003 - 332

2004 - 260                         2004 - 435

Then he left for the Cleveland Browns HC job....Lets look at their Defensive Ranks.

2005 - 11

2006 - 22

2007 - 21

2008 - 16

Now lets look at some connections Romeo Crennel made over working for the Pats and Browns. These guys might be making their way to the Chiefs if they are "Fiercely Loyal" like Todd Haley.

Todd Grantham

Worked as Browns Defensive Coordinator 2005-2007

He is currently the Defensive Line Coach with  the Dallas Cowboys.

Before that he served as D-Line coach with the Colts 99-01, and Texans 02-04

Mel Tucker

Worked as the Browns Defensive Backs coach from 2005-2007 then Defensive Cooordinator in 2008

Currently he is the Jacksonville Jaguars Defensive Co.....probably a long shot for this guy,

Cory Undlin

Worked with Patriots with Crennel as Defensive Assistant in 2004

Came to the Browns with Crennel in 2005-2006 as Defensive Quality Control

2007 as Assistant Special Teams

2008 as Defensive Backs coach

Currently Jacksonville Jaguars Defensive Assistant under Mel Tucker.

Randy Melvin

Worked with Patriots in 2000-2001 as DLine Coach

2002-2003 Rutgers DLine Coach

2004 Illinois DLine Coach

2005 - Currently Cleveland Browns DLine Coach

I am very excited to have Romeo Crennel as our Defensive Coordinator! I dont expect him to pull out a miracle and lead us to the best defense in the NFL but I expect our defense to improve greatly under him.

My goal for Romeo Crennel is to get our defensive points against under 350. That would be awesome. That would be an average of 21pts per game. We gave up 424 pts this season for an average of 26.5pts per game.  Our defense was ranked 30 in yards and 29 in points...I would expect Romeo to turn that into 20 in yards and around 20 in points....that would be a great start.
