Pioli and Haley have been quick to point out and address issues with the chiefs. This is good to see but I'm encouraged by something the new regime has NOT done. No one associated with the Chiefs, to my knowledge, has branded 2009 as a "rebuilding year." Herm Edwards did so for two years and we won six games. Pretending that it was all okay because we were just rebuilding is an inversion of cause and effect. "Rebuilding" was an excuse for loosing and it laid the foundation for a culture of defeat. Just because you are not the most talent laden team does not exempt you from playing to win. Pioli and Haley are not promising anything but improvement but I guaruntee you they will measure that improvement in games won. They're not yelling it out in the open, (Though Hailey has said it at least once)but they are preying on a playoff spot. Bill Parcells took a one win Dolphins team to the playoff a year later. They know it can be done and they aren't trying to excust their way out of it. We may not win a whole lot more games this year than last, but we just might. If we do, it will be because Pioli and Haley were able to squeeze every ounce of effort out of a problem team.
No excuses. Just work. Good for them
