Barry Richardson Returns; Chiefs Practice Squad Complete
When the Kansas City Chiefs released second year tackle Barry Richardson yesterday, it was to make room for newcomer Ryan O'Callaghan. Many of us thought the move was made under the assumption that Richardson would clear waivers and return to the team as a member of the practice squad.
Barry Richardson is the eighth and final member of the Chiefs practice squad. The other members are as follows:
- CB Jackie Bates
- TE Tom Crabtree
- DE Dion Gales
- DE Bobby Greenwood
- G Darryl Harris
- RB Javarris Williams
- WR Rodney Wright
Every member of the Chiefs initial practice squad was a participant in the team's training camp. With the lack of depth at tackle, I would expect the Chiefs to activate Richardson at some point throughout the season barring any major additions.

good
I think B Rich will work his way onto the active roster by next season
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
Glad to hear he got on the Practice Squad
I think he has ability, but he still needs work. Practice squad is the perfect place for him right now.

exactly
AND, as Joel pointed out…
he could easily be called back up to the active roster.
The PS basically increases your “bench strength”
And Barry is a good Tackle to have deep on the Chiefs bench this year.
I just hope the new guys are better

there haven't been that many cut players claimed overall
I think we’re reading too much into who clears waivers and who doesn’t
there’s no way that every team has evaluated every player available when 700 get cut at once.
Teams know their own players much better than every roster cut, and waivers happen quick.
some of the guys who have yet to be claimed will find homes eventually, it’s just a process (yes, I’m quoting Haley)

I still think he should be a guard.
He’s slow, but big and powerful, someone who can just maul people at the LOS, assuming he gets his hands on them of course.
Cry Havoc! And let slip the Chiefs Defense of War!!!
The issue though
is Haley has added a lot of guard pulling to the offense which was non-existant last year and is he athletic enough to do that? My guess is no.
agreed
he’s a RT.
that’s it.
I noticed a TON of guards pulling in the preseason games I watched closely.
They need athletic guards that can move, like Waters…even Waters was late getting around sometimes when he pulled…
that’s one of the reasons I don’t agree with everyone who wants to make a G out of every T that doesn’t make it. I heard it on here about McIntosh too… but I never think that would have worked.
