Offensive Depth Chart Update 9/6

Wide Receiver 1: Dwayne Bowe

Left Tackle: Branden Albert

Left Guard: Brian Waters, Wade Smith

Center: Rudy Niswanger, Andy Alleman

Right Guard: Mike Goff, Ikechuku Ndukwe

Right Tackle: Ryan O'Callaghan

Quarterback: Matt Cassel, Brodie Croyle, Matt Gutierrez, Tyler Thigpen

Tight End: Sean Ryan, Brad Cottam

Running Back: Larry Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Dantrell Savage, Jackie Battle

Fullback: Mike Cox

Wide Receiver 2: Mark Bradley

Wide Receiver 3: Bobby Engram

We're pretty short on depth right now at some line postitions, but look for a battle for the right guard position. Ndukwe was the statistical best RT last year with .06 sacks allowed in 15 starts for the Dolphins, it's his natural position. In my opinion, I'm surprised Goff made it past the turk this week. Tell me what you think about the addition of O'Callaghan.

My first thoughts exactly.

If we were going to completely decimate our o-line depth, why not do it at the beginning of camp. At least sucky players are a little less sucky when they know where they are suppossed to be, and have a general idea of how the playbook works. I still can’t believe our opening day RT will be someone we had signed for about a week….. craaaazeeee..

Herb Taylor seemed to back up the left side okay

I wonder if the local HyVee will be an off-roster locale for our backup players to hang-out till we need some O-line depth?

why didn't herb get some love?

I always saw him as an adequate pass blocker with marginal run blocking skills, can’t believe there is no room for him on our line considering the utter lack of talent. not to mention he’s cheap.

Might want to add a third category to the poll

I think we can all agree that Goff has stunk it up so far, but do we really know what Ndukwe is capable of? I look forward to seeing him play, but I can’t say yet whether he should be the starter or not.

Will we really keep 4 qb's

I can’t help but hope one of the qb’s will be cut We need more OL help and our LB’s look like they could be a mess. Who get’s cut and who replaces him on the roster?

Please someone explain why derrick brooks does not have a job? He’s one of the premier lb’s of his generation. A guy like that could fit into any system pretty quickly… This isn’t a knock on the chiefs… but just wondering what the hell is wrong with him.

I don't see it happening

Maybe through week 1 if something drastic doesn’t happen with the o-line.

most likely due to age and expense

+1

Derrick Brooks is too old & too expensive. If anything, we need another RT, not a slash player who can do multiple things, we have a couple of those already. Our LBs have looked ok to me so far, other than they miss some coverage assignments, & are out of position @ times…those things can be corrected fairly easily I imagine

Ikechuku Ndukwe and Allenson both played guard for the Dolphins in the playoff game vs Ravens last year.

But OL positions are similar.

Albert was a guard in college.

Waters was a TE for Dallas before they cut him.

I think Wade has played both C and Guard.

Line still very light on quality and depth.
