O'Callaghan claimed by Kansas City Chiefs
Former Patriots offensive lineman Ryan O'Callaghan has been awarded to the Kansas City Chiefs on waivers.
The Browns also put in a claim on O'Callaghan, but the Chiefs had priority based on having the worse record in 2008.
Former Patriots Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli is in his first year as Chiefs general manager, so he has a background with O'Callaghan, a 2006 fifth-round draft choice in New England.

Very Nice
This should put Pioli back in peoples good book again after yesterday.
"Success is never ending, failure is never final."
POSITIVES: Massive blocker who eliminates defenders at the point of attack. Strong, walls opponents from the action or engulfs them altogether. Makes effective use of angles, keeps his feet moving throughout the action and possesses powerful hand punch. Does not give up an inch of room and easily anchors at the point.
NEGATIVES: Not quick or explosive into run blocks. Loses balance sliding out laterally and lacks top range. Has a history of shoulder injuries which is a concern.
ANALYSIS: Offering enticing size and ability for a strong side tackle, O’Callaghan has the tools to eventually start in the NFL. Must receive a clean bill of health and complete his game, yet is a solid middle-round choice.
home, of the....CHIEEEEEFS!
I hope he pans out ...
because having a decent RT and being able to slide Ndukwe inside to his natural position will instantly make this line better.

Quote from Rotoworld...
“Chiefs claimed OT Ryan O’Callaghan off waivers from the Patriots.
O’Callaghan was good enough to start seven games for the Pats between ‘06 and ’07, but missed all of 2008 with a shoulder injury. He’ll immediately push Damion McIntosh, Barry Richardson, and Ike Ndukwe at right tackle in K.C."
Apparently even after we release him Mac is still our RT.

Sorry
But I could care less about this one versus signing Tony Pashos. Ryan couldn’t break New England’s starting line-up and they give every new player a chance. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this pick-up for the sake of depth, but if we’re done here, color me disappointed.
Could say the same thing about Pashos.
He couldnt break the starting lineup either at RT or RG. I think this is a solid pickup. Hes a big kid who’s good in pass blocking, which is more of a concern then the run blocking at this point, has starting experience on a 2006 NE team that had an extremely good oline, and Pioli is familliar with him.

That
makes three new O-linemen in the last two weeks. Average would be such an incredible improvement over what we have had, I’d take it for now and hope for more improvement next year.
Considering we have cut/placed on IR 5 Offensive Linemen in the last 3 days,
we still need more.
Before this signing, we only had a total of 8 O-Linemen…and 6 crappy ones at that. Not only do we not have depth, we don’t even have crappy depth.

DTR, this pickup, sackmaster approved!:)
Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!! dougritchie should be a Raiders fan.
Massive blocker at point of attack,
bet some KC qbs are happy to hear that, that whole losing balance thing, no problem he can still lay there and be better than Sac!:) Now this is positive, Pioli get Pashos STAT!

Rec for saying he's better than McS while laying prone.
Sad thing is, you’re probably right. At least if they run around him they have further to go this time.
