No Practice For Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe
The Kansas City Chiefs held practice today in preparation for Sunday's game against the New York Giants. Here are a few notes.
New faces and the jersey numbers:
- TE Leonard Pope #45
- LB David Herron #52 (Gretz says #42)
- CB Mike Richardson #23
- OT Chris Patrick #69
Injury Updates
- Derrick Johnson practiced in full pads this week after missing last week's game due to injury
- Dwayne Bowe did not pratice today instead riding a stationary bike in the rehab zone
Earlier in the week, Todd Haley said Bowe wasn't even close to playing last week. He did, however, express some optimism that Derrick Johnson would be ready. Bowe's injury is some sort of hamstring, which Haley indicate he did not want to linger further into the season so it's certainly a possibility that we won't see Bowe again this week.
The Chiefs official injury, where they'll designate the participation level of injured players, is due out sometime this afternoon.
These updates are coming from Josh Looney and Bob Gretz (who said he would have another update this afternoon).

Bowe
take your time.
I expect this game to be another painful game, so it would be OK if he missed it.
Bradley and Wade can pick up the slack… and I’d really like to see Lawrence get in the mix
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
Or Long...
If they ever promote him.

I would almost
Cut Engram to give Long the playing time…..I wouldnt want to but we probably cant have 3 slot guys in Engram Wade and Long. Wade is younger and proving his worth. Engram would be a nice addition but if we have younger options that are faster…I mean come on.

good point..
but, remember there’s a placeholder named Terrance Copper that could/should get cut

Yeah unless
It’s a nail biter that we end up losing because one of our terrible wideouts drop the ball…..
THEN YOU"LL BE SCREAMING FOR BOWE BACK WON’T YOU STAGDSP
hahahaha
i'd be tempted to... but
I like Bowe a lot, of course
But, i think Bradley, Wade and Lawerence are more than capable.
IF the Chiefs have a chance to win, but don’t because of a drop… well, that’s on the player that made the drop.
I think drops are MUCH less of a problem than we thought they would be… Penalties and missed blocking assignments are More of a problem than we expected.

You guys have no idea
how much it’s going to suck while I sit at the bar full of Giants fans this Sunday.

Out of Town Humiliation
My best friend lives in NYC and he suffers the same thing. However he found a Chiefs bar with a pretty good crowd. No such luck for me here in Houston. It’s just me, and sometimes my wife flying the Chiefs flag.
Of course, nothing could be worse than my friend’s decision to take the train and go see the Chiefs in Philly last weekend. Just a humiliating experience I’m sure.
Who is your friend?
And what bar does he go to?
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.

If we somehow pull off a win
I’ll be weeping for joy.

Me too...!!
Even if the Giants royally screw up and its not even us winning but them losing….I would be happy no matter what.

Living in NJ...
I would go to school and wear my Bowe Jersey and probably cry also.
Bowe and Wade FTW.

Unless there's a huge upset
Stranger things have happened!
Negative Ghost Rider the pattern is full...
The expression on Haleys face during the press conference...
When someone asked “What makes the Giants a good team?” is priceless. It’s one of those “you didn’t just ask me that stupid ass question did you?” expressions.

Herron wearing 42?
He could be pulling double duties as ST and FB….who knows. That looks like a FB # to me….

giants
I can’t see us beating the giants. Their defense is to strong. I know I am new on here so don’t get to pissed at me, but I believe the game we might be able to win is the redskins game. I see 1-5 guys, if were lucky. I am going to be optimistic, but I just don’t know about these next two games. Maybe we can beat dallas if homo throws us some picks. I believe we are gonna get another high draft pick. I see 6-10 at best. But I don’t know could be another 4-12 year.
If we stop the run..
and force them to throw, anything could happen.

it ain't happening
just sayin
The only measure of true success in the NFL is the Vince Lombardi trophy. Anything less is a rationalization.
"stop the run and force them to throw"
that very well COULD happen… the problem is then stopping the throw
:)

Bowe
That’s what I am saying, with Bowe out it is even harder to win, he is our best threat down the field. We really need the other guys to step up.
