Open Thread #5: Tyler Thigpen with the Pick Six; Chiefs Down by Five
The Kansas City Chiefs are down 14 to 9 to the St. Louis Rams.
Brodie Croyle is done for the day and Tyler Thigpen is already struggling. To be fair, Brodie Croyle didn't exactly light it up either.
The defense continues to shut down a Rams offense that doesn't have any weapons. I'm trying to take my homer glasses off tonight in case you were wondering.
Chat away. Fourth quarter is about to begin...

do you think

I bet
Haley does a military decomission on him and rips the sticker off his helmet
WTF?
I take the dog for a walk and come back to have to warn 3 people, ban 1, delete multiple links to video streams, and see Chris had to ban another person.

I guess we’re going with two QB’s

Pioli just took Thigpen's trade value from high to non exsistent
too much exposure
I don't want no Yo-Yos
As much time as he spends reviewing his interceptions
while our offense isn’t on the field, you’d think he’d know how to read a defense by now. It’s not like its Jim Johnson throwing everything but the kitchen sink at us in there. Its a 3rd-string defense running vanilla schemes.

Can he put in Gutz so we can have a shot at winning?
It’s clear that TT is not winning the backup job. He’ll be lucky to be one of the final 53
Yeah, cause Guitz...
Did so well against Minnesota and Seattle. As I recall, he couldn’t get it done in those games. Stats are nice and pretty, but the dude failed at the end of the game when we had a chance.
This is not me saying Tyler is the better option, either. I’m saying nobody on our team can get it done right now.
Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.
You're right but
at the rate Thigpen’s going.. he’s just going to keep giving the ball away. Gutz fits this offense better as he’s a better pocket passer then TT.
Don't panic, guys. It's all just a ploy.
Don Pioli has it all worked out with some friends nobody he knows about – friends who favor fedoras. They’re drivin’ the line down on game 1 versus the Ravens, and they’re bettin’ big on the Chiefs.

The Lions...
went 4-0 in the preseason last year. I could care less about preseason games. That being said, I would like to at least not get blown out in week 1.

Well there goes that.
Woohoo, can’t wait for the regular season!
Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.
Chiefs going for it, gotta love it
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...
Well you could say our 1st team wins but
It would be nice to have 1 win befoer the season
A fan since '90. I cried when Lowery missed the FG :( I was 11.
If its a draw play i swear.......
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that, who cares?! He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
Whatever it is
it better be shotgun cuz the heat is comin
Whitlock will be going on and on tomorrow
about how Haley failed as coordinator tonight.
Too bad Croyle has the chance th throw 3 TD passes to open receivers.
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.
Haleys play calling was really good tonight.
Thats clear and obvious. Much better then Chan. And the guys who will be paid to execute will execute.

except that he isn't all that accurate
and his receivers don’t lay out for the ball
The only measure of true success in the NFL is the Vince Lombardi trophy. Anything less is a rationalization.
It's
Preseason kid b way just wayyy off
How the hell did that happen? I am Trailblazer fan to the core but I love me some OKC THunder!!! Must be the Hometown pride I feel.

Watch us go to Baltimore and somehow win
That’ll prove to everyone preseason is meaningless.
had nothing to do with Brady going down.

QBs...
11/34. I could do better than that. And I’m fat and stupid.
Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.
I do have to say
our first team against their first team would have been no contest. We’d have beat them.
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.
Their #1 D was gonna chew up our #1 O.
In a “real life” situation, it’d been between Thiggy and Gutsy, with Gutsy ahead of Thiggie, and Thiggie for if everything else had failed and we want to trade TDs and INTs in an ugly game and a much better defense than last year.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
I have a feeling
the Chiefs will be the worst team in the NFL this year. This is embarrassing.
Give me a break...
we are leaps and bounds better than last year. Case in point: defense.
by I_Bleed_Red. on Sep 3, 2009 10:02 PM CDT up reply actions
I mean...
leaps and bounds is 5 wins. But, we are heading in the right direction.

Two words for when we get the #1 pick.
Stefen. Wisniewski.
Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.
Denver...
San Fransico, Detroit, or Cincy will have the worst. We have never had the #1 overall pick.

g’night folks
"Every day is an evaluation and if you’re not out there how can we depend on you? If you’re out there and you don’t know what to do, how can we depend on you?" Accountability -- Haley-style...
How in the fuck do you throw a screen on 4th & 8 in 4 WR set???!!!!!!
People don’t even pull that shit in Madden.
what better way to test something out like that than in the preseason
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...

You are correct
It was a bad checkdown by Gut

4th and 8 in Madden?
I’d put Thiggy in with 5 wide receivers and just run a bootleg. Too fucking easy.
Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.

Our 1st D Shut them down, blew em up even...
A fan since '90. I cried when Lowery missed the FG :( I was 11.
Eh, decided to call in tonight
"The first step to penetration... must not be lateral"
-Confucius, in contrary to Glenn Dorsey lining up in the 2-tech
Look at it this way...
The defense and special teams have shown improvement…
If we can figure out some way to mask our O-line deficiencies, we might be ok.
D gave up 13 points
Look at out points given up last preasosn vs. this preseason. Major, major improvement.
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.
That stat is one of the few strong indicators that is positive.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Also no one hurt tonight.
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.
yes, thank jeebus

Id rather use those picks to draft O-Lineman next year...
we aren’t winning it all this year, so why sacrifice the future on winning this year

If our D keeps playing like this
we will be in every game.
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.
Way to pad the stats Matty!
Thanks for making some of those passes when it counted ;)
Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.

Quick panic over a game that we lost when all the players who will be looking for work were on the field.

Maybe our pre-season record is so bad.....
Because our starters haven’t been outstanding & our backup players couldn’t make any teams
