Chiefs Trade Tyler Thigpen Approval Poll

San_diego_chargers_e91d_medium

If you've followed Arrowhead Pride long enough then you know we do approval polls for any major moves the team makes.

To make this thing easier, let's assume the trade involved a 5th round draft pick, which I think is a pretty good guess at what it really is.

There's not much more to say here.  The numbers will speak for themselves.

So...do you approve of the Kansas City Chiefs trading Tyler Thigpen to the Dolphins?

It was a good trade, no matter what the draft pick was.

We have 4 QBs and needed to get rid of one. Thigpen was never going to be our starter anyway.

Yep

Pretty much sums up my feelings.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 29, 2009 2:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Pretty much..

But I hope it’s at least a 5th.

If its a 5th or possibly a 4th then....

Yes this was a killer deal. You’re netting a +2 in draft day position for a 7th round pick at the least and a possible +3 which is huge in terms of value.

I’d be extremely happy if it was a 5th for Thigpen

I'd rather see a poll that asks what the average AP reader thinks

We should get in terms of draft compensation.

1) 5th Round
2) 6th Round
3) 7th Round
4) A half-eaten Snickers Bar

Great move for all concerned. Tyler is going to a place that will utilize his strengths, the most wildcat crazy team in the NFL. And he needed to be go somehwere where he’s not buried.

by dablueguy on Sep 29, 2009 3:04 PM CDT reply actions

good trade

he was sitting on the bench doing nothing.
At least now he has a chance to play and we can maybe trade the new draft pick with someone else for some oline help.

by Kirk7 on Sep 29, 2009 3:07 PM CDT reply actions

Possibly...

pair it with the Tony G second round pick to make a pretty big move.

I think they will contribute... eventually

Ndukwe has been better than McIntosh… but would be better suited at RG
he could be the long term starter there.

Alleman could be an answer at C, though we haven’t seen him yet….
O’Connell is a developmental guy, and a special teamer.

So, it’s still up in the air, I wouldn’t write them off just yet

Talk about ROI

we picked this guy up for almost nothing (by NFL standards) and got a pick (or two linemmen that will provide solid depth for us) out of it Bravo Pioli Bravo

we DID get him for nothing

we picked him up off waivers from minnesota

by Vince D on Sep 29, 2009 3:33 PM CDT up reply actions

I meant the contract

but I guess we gave up a waiver claim too

"gave up a waiver claim"?

what’s that?

If your Detroit this year

you can’t claim every guy that goes on the wire you have to give other teams a chance. So the NFL made a rule where you get the first claim but after you make a claim there’s a certain amount of time before you can make another. A pretty fair way to distribute the young talent to the league

the waiver wire goes from worse to first

like a post draft, draft but for young FA’s that haven’t seen the field

yeah, but that's not really giving up anything

I think it re-sets at midnight.

… after you make a claim there’s a certain amount of time

Basically, you get one first shot every day, and it goes down the list. About the only way to leaven the advantage by the worst teams is by having everybody make a large # of cuts at the same time, which is typically what happens at the deadlines.

Except for Detroit, I would expect that teams would make multiple claims on any given day, and then let the pecking order decide who is still available.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Don't forget

it also opens a roster spot.

Waiting until August!

Lance Long

there really is no other possibilty, unless we just signed Jon Runyan. But that doesn’t seem likely with the recent promotion of O’Callghan

good trade

this gives us a roster spot for another pickup that we may actually use as well as a draft pick. Lord knows we need both of those right now.

by KCCheeze on Sep 29, 2009 3:36 PM CDT reply actions

for the millionth time, they both have two distinctly different skill sets and Haley doesn’t want to d*** around with throwing out the playbook and starting over if Cassel gets hurt. I thought this has been established about a bajillion times…

by jk86 on Sep 29, 2009 4:17 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree

This isnt college football. Teams that win the Super Bowl dont have guys like Thigpen. They dont have guys like Croyle either, but Brodie is waaaay closer to what we need than Thigpen. That being said, thank your Thigpen for the excitement last year. You managed to salvage the season for me even without winning. Good Luck

The Stillers won the SB with virtually no O-Line and no running game.

I’m just sayin’.

nobody would want Brokie!

Cassel has something to prove 3TD's against Eagles

by bringbacktheglory on Sep 29, 2009 5:18 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm surprised...

…that Pioli was able to trade him at all. Anything better than a 7th round pick is a steal in my opinion.

by utchief on Sep 29, 2009 4:47 PM CDT reply actions

I'm not.

All Pioli had to do was wait until a team went into desperation mode. And it paid off for him.

Hope Thiggy does well in Miami. I’m gonna miss him :(

Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.

by YNinja on Sep 29, 2009 5:33 PM CDT up reply actions

I like the trade

It helps both teams and it sends Thigpen to a place that was made for his style of play.

I love Thigpen

but he was not ever going to be making the best use of his talent in KC. I can see him blowing up with the wildcat down in Miami and then everyone on here will talk about how we should not have let him go. Good for him, I see it as a win – win, no matter what pick we got.

Goodbye, Tyler

Kansas City didn’t deserve you.
