Arrogant egotists? NOT!!
I truly do not want to continue this debate because I think it's absurd. But, I really just can't let it go when we have some really excellent evidence on the Mothership right now. Go check out the video of Pioli at the Philly Chiefs sports bar and the Haley press conferences today and postgame yesterday.
I am not a kool-aid drinking glue sniffer non-thinking supporter of Pioli/Haley. But, I am a strong supporter of them. I am on record many times on this site for stating that IMO the OL is the team's biggest area of need. I wanted them to acquire OL guys in FA. But, I also don't have the info on who's available and at what price. I also believe these guys are professionals that have a plan in mind. I trust that they knew and still know that our OL needed help. Perhaps the plan hasn't worked as they wished yet. Maybe the guys they thought they could get, they couldn't. We don't know.
At any rate, the argument that they are arrogant, ego jerks is absurd and wrong. Examples:
1. It seems that Haley has read his press and has tried to tone down his yelling. I for one had no problem with it. But, he's being pretty honest in his press conference that he sees it as an area for him to improve upon. So, he is willing to learn and to accept criticisms and opinions from others.
2. In NONE of his press conferences has he EVER thrown a player under the bus. He has said many times that such and such player needs to work and to improve. He also many times adds that the player has been and contineus to work hard. He has been quite willing to liberally place blame upon himself and the coaching staff as well. He is definitely trying to live up to his own standards of accountability that he is expecting of the players.
3. If you watch Pioli in the bar I think you definitely see a guy who is a pretty cool guy who can easily mix with us "regular" folks. I simply don't see any evidence in that video nor any of his press conferences since the day we hired him that he is an arrogant jerk. This is first hand evidence folks. We don't have any evidence for the other side of this argument other than Whitlock's accusations which many folks on here are simply adopting thoughtlessly.
The arguments against Pioli/Haley in this area simply do not stand up to any objective evidence available. Other criticisms might be fair. I am sure they have made mistakes, we all do. My argument is simply that they deserve a REAL chance (not 3 games) to install their systems and be measured on them. But, these guys are not too arrogant and egotistical to learn from their mistakes and adjust plans as they go along.

You're right.
People like Jason Whitlock just need a scapegoat, he did this with every regime. Says “Egoli” all the time, just last year he was criticizing Herm and calling Carl peterson “King Carl”. I mean we all call him king carl but thats just natural now.
I disagree ... why? well, reasons like this ...
“He talked over the top of Haley the whole night (a three-hour dinner). Seriously, questions were asked directly to Haley, and (Pioli) drowned out the rookie head coach with fury, arrogance and rants about championship teams … "
yup, directly from Jason … what, you think he makes this stuff up? Whitlock was one of the people who originally thought Pioli would be a good choice – so, let’s assume for just a minute that what Jason claims here is, in fact, true … you don’t call that “arrogant and/or egotistical” then I’d like to know what is
and FYI since we’re on the subject: Whitlock’s been VERY soft on Haley of late himself, giving the guy props, etc … you may not LIKE Whitlock, but that doesn’t mean the guy is lying thru his teeth … he mention hearing (former Chiefs center) Tim Grunhard on radio grousing how he and other former players have been made to feel “unwanted” by Pioli and others at Arrowhead … Haley, as I’ve indicated elsewhere, seems to have learned some lessons, Pioli … I don’t think so
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
any other examples?
I’m not sure what dinner the Pioli drowning out Haley quote is refering to. I no longer live in KC, and even when I did Whitlock was never really high on my must read list.
Every press conference, or interview I have seen with Pioli or Pioli and Haley I have been impressed. Pioli has always come off as an intelligent, hard working and humble yet confident person. Like Haley says in his press conferences all the time “I have to go with what I see” or in the case see and/or hear.
Whitlock isn’t someone I choose to pay much attention to. I understand it is his job always trying to be controversial and extremely opinionated, but if anyone strikes me as arrogant it is Whitlock.

Can you name any other source that talks about Pioli being arrogant?
I have seen and heard many interviews with Pioli and not once has he come across as being arrogant. The only source you have stated was Whitlock. Like this post says there are many things that show Pioli not having a huge ego but so far the only place that I have seen about his ego is through Whitlock.
I love AP and all the different opinions of people on here, and I will listen to yours but you need more proof of Pioli than just Whitlock, If Pioli is so arrogant than there should be something else out there.
Cassel has something to prove 3TD's against Eagles

Maybe Pioli just doesn't like Whitlock.
And if that is the case, score one for Pioli. The guy seems smart and down to earth to me. Whitlock is not a reporter, he is an opinionist. He writes negative peices and always has. That is his style and that is why some people like him (and it is why many like me hate him). He needs something else to bitch about now that Carl is gone, and I guess Pioli is that guy.
