Chiefs vs Eagles Open thread

Since Joel and Chris are still most likely busy with wedding stuff, I thought I'd create this as the game thread since we're almost at game time and one hasn't been posted.

Feel free to take this down or ignore it if another one's been posted.

No Dwayne Bowe, no DJ, but the Eagles have no McNabb, and the returen of Vick, let's see what we can do.  As always, GO CHIEFS!!

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Go To The Royals' Site Then

Nothing personal, but this is a site dedicated to covering the Chiefs game and SB Nation has an excellent site for the Royals (Royals Review) that I’m sure would appreciate the traffic.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West. Revision: We go 5-11 and finish behind Oakland.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
8. The Chiefs will have a bottom 10 defense this year.
9. RB will be a problem area this season on offense.

Offensive line isnt the problem.

Eagles are bringing 6 every down so far so until Haley calls some plays to back them off the line they’re going to keep this up.

Adjustment on offense is so clear and obvious.

The Eagles have blitzed every single down and when they have the ball if Kolb has the ball they’re throwing it, if he’s not theyre running it. Not sure what our coaching staff needs but with it being this obvious we should know whats coming.

Sorry Everyone.

I didn’t mean to speak negatively about Haley or the Chiefs. This is great. Haley and his staff are doing a great job. They have done well in getting talented players, and coaching them on the fundamentals of winning football.

What we are seeing….it’s just a fluke. I mean.. it’s only the 3rd game. An entire offseason, training camp, preseason, and 3 regular season games are NOT enough to predict how this team will play. Jeez people.

by GetRight on Sep 27, 2009 1:21 PM CDT reply actions

i don't think anyone thinks they're playing well

but why is it haley’s fault for the lack of talent on the team? if i remember right, it took edwards 3 full seasons to get it as bad as he did so why did you expect it to be solved in one offseason?

No one is saying theyr’e good. Most of us were prepared for a rough year. It’s okay to speak negatively. Just point out a player, a scheme, an aspect that you think sucks. Dont’ just be snarking and negative. It gets old and doesn’t add anything to the conversation.

Also, tyring to evaluate on preseason is like trying to tell how the sex is going to be from foreplay. You can have all sorts of neat tricks but if you don’t have the package, no one’s getting off happy.

http://hardwoodparoxysm.com

by Ridiculous Matt on Sep 27, 2009 1:26 PM CDT up reply actions

That we suck right now.

We’ve gutted the Front Office, Coaching Staff and Players.

We look worse than any of Herm’s teams. I am not a Herm supporter, no was I ever. But this is worse.

It’s ugly to watch. Sorry if I’m not all happy and excited about it. Teams do have a one year turnaround….Miami, Atlanta, etc. It happens. I wasn’t expecting that, but I was expecting at least competitiveness.

by GetRight on Sep 27, 2009 1:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Where's Miami now?

Aren’t they also 0-2 and look horrible? Atlanta had a foundation built over years, then got a better coach and a franchise QB. it takes time to rehab a franchise, which is what we have to do after herm.

You don’t have to be happy. No one here is positive about what’s happening. But try and add something useful to the discussion. We all are aware they suck.

I’ve long said that we need a postgame vent thread. It’s hard. I hate it. I hate watching our o-line be terrible for the third straight year. I hate that our defensive scheme is terrible. I hate feeling like we’re never going to get better. But we have to deal with this if we want to get where we want to go. Which is a Super Bowl. Maybe Haley and Pioli won’t get us there, but it’s too soon to tell. Next year we can start evaluating honestly.

All chiefs fans want to say oh what a moral victory or oh they just need 1 more year to draft

No, thats not true, this team is bad because of bad managment, look at the dolphins or the falcons, peoople said the same about them and then they got good managment, I fuckiing have loved the Chiefs since I was 6 years, that doesnt make me deny the clear truth in front of us. This is a fucking high shcoll team

by dougritchey on Sep 27, 2009 1:31 PM CDT reply actions

LOL

The Dolphins

are 0-2. The Falcons built a foundation, then added a RB and a QB and a coach. It’s highly unlikely. The process is in place.

But you have to tear something down to build it back up.

The Dolphins should no longer be used in the argument.

Winning is very unlikely at this point

…down 17, but would be worse is this team quitting in the 2nd half. I want to see the score less than a 17 point lead with a dcahance to tie or win at this point.

by jcru on Sep 27, 2009 1:31 PM CDT reply actions

So What!

I am seeing a lot of repeating comments as to how bad you guys believe the Chiefs suck. Are you trying to out do the next guy?

Question to everyone who’d put there faith in there unborn kids in Haley… What has he shown you to still have the faith again mines not completely gone but I’m worried

by karkz86 on Sep 27, 2009 1:33 PM CDT reply actions

he's shown quite a bit to me

winning is a byproduct of the culture and system you run combined with talent. i think he’s got the thing going in the right direction, culture wise and system wise, now he just needs some talent.

by karkz86 on Sep 27, 2009 1:37 PM CDT up reply actions

because talent hasn't changed

Penalties...

I’d like to see less of those and more scoring. It’s sad, that everytime I watch a huge play for the Chiefs, I immedietly look for the flag because I know it is coming and like magic a million flags hit the ground at once and we are back 20 yards. It’s sicking what penalties do. We need to be more aggressive on offense. Our Line needs to earn their fucking money and block. Our defense needs to come through on their blitz packages and we need to at least make this game close. This is getting out of hand.
