Chiefs and Eagles Fantasy Advice
Each week on SBNation.com/NFL we submit a few one-liners on the Kansas City Chiefs major players in fantasy football. Here is this week's submission from me:
Matt Cassel
Matt Cassel would be a decent fantasy start this week. The Eagles defense is good, especially the blitz, and the Chiefs offense is not very good, especially the offensive line. Still, though, the Eagles should be scoring a lot of points on the Chiefs today so expect Cassel and Co. to be playing catch up which means pass, pass and more pass.
Larry Johnson
Eh...do you have to start him? This isn't a good play partly because LJ hasn't demonstrated that he's got "it" back and, as I previously said, the Chiefs will be playing catch up most of the game.
Dwayne Bowe
Injury alert - Bowe missed Thursday's practice with some sort of unknown leg injury. He's officially listed as limited, and as far as we know he'll play, but the missed practice should be noted. He's going up against Asante Samuel, one of the better corners in the league, but Bowe is still options 1 and 1A for the Chiefs.
Chiefs Defense
If you're starting the Chiefs defense this week then it's time to re-think your fantasy football strategy. Not a good move this week, even with McNabb being out.
***
Here is the Eagles submission courtesy of Jason from Bleeding Green Nation (which will be mentioned on ESPN's SportsNation this afternoon at 4 CST on ESPN!)
Donovan McNabb - While he will again be a gametime decision, all signs point to him sitting out one more week. If you're a McNabb owner and you signed Kevin Kolb as a backup, he's probably a pretty good play this week. Kolb threw for nearly 400 yards and 2 TDs last week and against the Chiefs he should have opportunities as well.
Mike Vick - Vick is interesting fantasy case. He's not going to start at QB and will get very limited snaps, so you can't really ever start him as your QB... but I think there's a very good chance you could see him in the red zone lined up in the wildcat or even in goal line situations, so there's a decent chance he might actually score in any given game. I wouldn't play him this week, but it will be interesting to see how the Eagles use him.
Brian Westbrook - Westbrook is still obviously shaking off some rust from offseason ankle surgery. Ankle soreness has kept him out of practice this week, so Westbrook owners will want to monitor his progress today closely. That said, anyone who has owned Westbrook in previous years knows it's fairly common for him to miss practice all week and play well come Sunday. Even so, I expect Lesean McCoy to get some extra carries.
Desean Jackson - He's missed practice this week with a sore groin, but the same thing happened last week and he had a 100+ yard, 1 TD game. So I wouldn't be too worried.

Who are you going to listen to?
A statist like Joel “I do what the mainstream media tells me” Thorman or the PARADE that started Mario Manningham last weekend and is undefeated?
Here’s something that Joel and Peter King/Bill Simmons/Whitlock/ESPN/SI won’t remind you of. Got a Ricky Williams or Lee Evans soiling a perfectly good roster spot? Pick Bobby Wade up off the waivers. You saw the Chiefs game, you know Haley likes the slot receiver, you know if things continue to deteriorate we’ll get super pass happy.

yeah me too
I may try my luck with Bowe. Will be interesting to see if the “wade effect” cuts into bowes numbers. I’m a bit scared of seneca + housh

i’d have to go with Cutler. I think NE is going to step up eventually. Also the seahawks sucks. Thats a tough one but id start cutler. i benched ryan in favor of flacco this week

Look who the hawks have played
The 9ers and the Rams don’t exactly strike fear into a secondary

I think I disagree completely
The Chiefs Defense is comming of a solid game against against the Raiders and the Eagles are limping. I think our Defense could have a coming out game agains the Eagles this week…

What about....
Bradley or Lawrence?

What the hell?
Fantasy Analysis
Lawrence has minimal Fantasy value in all leagues. He should not be used in Week 2 against Denver.
nice…idiots!

Bobby Wade
Has made it to 2 fantasy benches for me. If Harvin stays ill for the week, Wade may get the go for me. We’ll see.

surprised the Philly guy
didn’t mention Celek. Kolb’s fave target and TE. We did shut down Zach Miller but got ripped by Heap. Who knows.

TE
Rieds system favors the TE he is prolly in the top 6 this year for fantasy sake… I’d stars his if I didn’t have cooley from was
How the hell did that happen? I am Trailblazer fan to the core but I love me some OKC THunder!!! Must be the Hometown pride I feel.
I'll Say it now so you guys can know I'm a true follower: "In Pioli I Trust"

I'm really torn
I have Celek but I also picked up Steve Smith (NYG). I have to pick between them for 3rd WR. What do you think? They both have good matchups and both could go crazy. Leaning to Smith since I don’t want to be happy if Celek does good.

I love conventional wisdom.
It predicted a big day for McFadden last Sunday. 12 carries, 35 yards (got a TD, though).
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
