Zero Acquisitions
News is slow and acquisitions were nil for the week of September 21st. There was news that the Chiefs were working out some players this week, but to my knowledge, names were not released. At least I have not seen any names released for said players. I'm curious as to the players and/or the positions that were being looked at this week.
Shall we jump?
As we all know, we are lacking production on the offensive front. Although, from last week's game, it seems that that particular area is starting to improve. Pass protection wasn't the greatest, but definitely better from the previous week. We also opened up some holes for LJ to be able to run through instead of getting marred in the backfield. Although, they did take a step backwards when it came to the penalty tally. Another area that needs an upgrade is the LB corps, those who can excel in pass coverage as well as attacking the ball. From what I saw, LB pass coverage was definitely lacking in both games; the Ravens and the Raiders. Depth at S couldn't hurt either, and neither would solidifying the KR/PR position. I do not think Wade is the solution. I agree that he made an immediate impact at the receiver position, but he did not show much talent at returning. Most of his returns were fair catches or a simple 5-10 yard pickup. I know it's only one game and it's not fair to judge, but he did not show me much. I'm hoping if Haley looks at him as the solution, he vastly improves. That said, I am overly excited that we did get Bobby Wade. Hey Minnesota, thanks for the talent by the way, or by the Wade, however you see it. This guy, on less than a week to game prep, exploded onto the scene. He seems to be a quick learner and picked up things quite nicely. Cassel relied on him like Thiggy did Gonzo last year. If this continues, it will open up the deep threat, give Bowe some more looks, and provide some wiggle room for LJ to expand upon. Back to my initial thought process though. Any news on the folks getting workouts in KC? The Jon Runyan front? Or how about Langston Walker or Mark Tauscher? Are we still even looking at these guys or have we wrote them off? Again, like they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. And I also know that there isn't much talent available in the cess pool.
And what does this mean to us, the fans? I'm curious here, so please help me solve my own riddle. Are we still looking for quality talent to add depth and compettition? Is anybody out there even worth grabbing? Or has Todd Haley seen something that tells him otherwise? What I mean is, has Haley finally convinced himself that the talent we have has progressed enough to make him think they are good enough to be his pawns that puts other teams in checkmate? My personal opinion is of the latter. I think that our boys are finally showing Haley something that he can hang his hopes on and a team that gives him an opportunity to shine in his rookie year at head coach. What say you???

I was thinking the same thing
Aren’t they supposed to be making roster moves like it’s fantasy football or something?
Negative Ghost Rider the pattern is full...
I agree. Haley is starting to see some cohesion with our current roster.
Every one of our games are winnable. We have enough talent to win, we, however do not have enough talent to win with multiple mistakes.
We saw with our first two games lots of promise, heart & toughness. It was’nt always pretty.
No turnovers… we win! No dumb penalties… we can win! We force turnovers… we win.
Todd Haley is a good coach. He does’nt teach penalties or turnovers. The Chiefs future is in the hands of 53 guys avoiding mistakes. Enough said…
Todd Haley is a good coach. He doesn't teach penalties or turnovers ...
say what?!?
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
is there a coach who teaches
their team to get penalties and turnovers?

Nice Post.
Tauscher’s prob’ly the only talent that’s a true upgrade at RT, and, near as I can tell from the WWW, few expect him to be much of a factor until December, with his age and ACL surgery. The fact that I can say that, though, says a lot about Ndukwe and my hopes for O’Callaghan.
I disagree with you and Texas Chief on needing better coverage skills from our LBs, although I’m sure they’re working on that aspect. I think it’s more the decision to use the LBs as coverage guys, rather than bangers. Much more passive a style of D than I was hoping for, but it worked pretty well against the Faders. I still hate lining up Hali 5 yards off the TE in the slot on the first play from scrimmage. I just don’t get it.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
OK. I came here, after you asked in yet another FanPost.
See I’ve already been here, and nobody followed me up.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Prob'ly my fault for attacking the "LBs need to play pass coverage" sacred cow.
