Birthday wishlist
Well AP, in honour of my Thirty First year on this earth, I thought I’d make a list of 31 things I’d like to see in my 31st year. I’m not going to lie, things sucked for the Chiefs in my 29th and 30th year, but 31 is a good number. (Priest Holmes is my 2nd fave Chief, and I don’t want to wait till I am 88 to have a good year)
1. A win this weekend. I’m sick and freaking tired of the pundits saying “Might as well rest Mcnabb, it doesn’t matter who plays QB for the eagles to beat the Chiefs. Let’s beat them and shut them up.
2. Matt Cassel to win over the legions. Matt Cassel is our franchise starting QB and I’d love to see him string together multiple strong performances to stop the “Play Brodie” nonsense.
3. LJ and Charles to be a dominant 1-2 punch. I am not sure if this is an O-Line issue of a lack of talent issue but the running game has been very inconsistent the last couple years. LJ and Charles seem to have skill-set to be a great backfield combo with LJ pounding the rock and Charles being a good change of pace back. I’ve even glossed them “Slit and spit”
4. Pound the donks. I have no idea how they are 2-0, oh ya I do…dumb ass luck. I want to see us going 2-0 against the Broncos.
5. Teenwolf Three. Teenwolf was awesome. As great as Teenwolf was, that’s how bad Teenwolf Too was. Unless that douche from the Transformers plays Scott Howard, than nevermind.
6. Arrowhead full. Seeing empty seats at the Home opener was depressing. Sigh.
7. A number 1 TE to emerge. I don’t care if its Ryan, O’Connell or Cottam or someone not on the roster…I hope someone emerges and is ½ the talent we traded away in TG
8. DJ to step his game up. He makes game changing plays then disappears. We need out best players to be our best players.
9. D-Bowe to sign a multi-year extension. He’s recently hired a new agent so I’m sure its on his mind and I want to avoid franchise tags and holding out, so lets be progressive and sign him to a 7 year extension.
10. Arrested Development movie. The best characters in TV and was shut down too soon. Ron Howard, I’m looking at you.
11. A new collective bargaining agreement between the owners and the players. An uncapped year scares the bejezus out of me. A lockout/strike in 2011 makes me sick to my stomach
12. Cohesion on the O-Line. I’m going to address the O-Line later on in my list but I want to see some good play to analyze who stays and who goes in the offseason. I’d love a guy like Ndukwe to step up and rip the RT spot. One less spot to fill.
13. Brian Waters traded in the offseason. I dunno, 3rd or 4th rounder? He’s not getting any younger or healthier. Get something while he’s still worth something
14. Professional hockey to be canceled. I live in Canada and I’m smothered by it.
15. I hate the NHL, but I’d nothing would make me happier than a gold medal for Canada in the 2010 Olympics. People in the states will never understand how hockey crazy this country is. We could win 400 gold medals in the Olympics but silver in men’s hockey, and the Olympics would be a disappointment.
16. Todd Haley to do something special. I don’t know what that is yet, but a defining moment. A risky call that works out that results in a win (Vermiels call to go for the TD vs Oakland comes to mind). I’d love to see us all rally around him. Love him or hate him, he’s our coach
17. Quinten Lawrence, DaJuan Morgan, Donald Washington to have good years. I would consider these guys “raw projects”. I’d love to see one or two of them absolutely play awesome and grab a starting position and turn into a bona fide superstar. I think they have the raw skillz, they need to be coached up.
18. Jon McGraw to make the probowl as a special teamer. I know, it’s a long shot, but Special teams are often overlooked but we have the chance to be great in this area. Succup and Colquit are studs, and I’d love to see McGraw to lead the league in special teams tackles and make plays like he did in Baltimore
19. Tyler Thigpen packages. Who didn’t love “Bradley to Thigpen”? I’m not saying it has to be that crazy, but I’d like to see his talents utilized in the wildcat or other gadget plays.
20. Saskatchewan Roughriders win the Grey Cup!
21. Chiefs to win 6 or 7 games and have a mid-first round draft pick. We can’t afford another top 5 pick.
22. Vikings beat Patriots in Superbowl XLIV. Brett Favre returns in 2010 in final victory tour
23. Offseason “splash”. I don’t know what that is yet, but I’m not the GM. I want a trade so big that Arrowhead Pride actually blows up.
24. Taylor Mays or Brandon Spikes as first round draft pick. This will be the only defensive picks in the draft (Well first 4 or 5 rounds anyways). If Pioli could somehow get both, I’d officially drink the Kool-aid
25. Draft O-Line with both 2nd round draft picks….and not some head case either. I want a bonafide anchor.
26. Tim Tebow to get drafted by the 49ers. I think that would be a good fit.
27. Flight of the Conchords Box set. I love that show!
28. Solidify Linebacker core in offseason. DJ, Hali, Spikes and Vrabel for one more year looks decent to me. If Mays plays well, it would add depth, but I don’t see him being a gamechanger like Brandon Spikes.
29. Strong preseason. I know the preseason means “nothing” but this team needs to learn how to win, at any level. A team that doesn’t know how to win loses to QB’s with 29% Completion percentage.
30. Philip Rivers moves to Azerbaijan in the offseason to work with Azerbaijanis’ orphans. Does not return
31. SUPERBOWL IN MY 32nd year!

That's what happens
when you have a QB with 14 letters in his name! The fans have to be larger to get the whole name on there!

Happy Birthday all the way from Hawaii
I do hope Mays locks up the starting job by seasons end so we can draft a WR in the first next year.. That would make me so happy but whatever we go with I’m sure it was our biggest weakness

I agree that Mays stepping up would be great.
However I would also love Taylor Mays. Look at Pits Defense with and without Troy Polamalu. A gamechanging safety would be a huge asset.

But at mid round first
we’d have to pray for him to fall to us. I’d love to see Mays and Mays start off for our defense. Our secondary would be young and dangerous, comparable to the Ravens when Ed Reed, Samari Rolle, and Chris McAllister were in full effect

Seriously! I actually got shivers thinking about it
A secondary with Page, Mays, and the two Brandon on the corner and the front 7 full of first round draft picks?
In a year or 2, this is a top 1 defense!
I’m sold. Taylor Mays has to be our 1st round draft pick.

Same here
I love strong defenses… More time for offense :)

Offense is easy
Get a good O-Line and a good QB. The rest of the pieces fall into place. (2003 Chiefs). A strong defense has no holes or the other team can easily exploit them

this is true
mediocre receivers (Jets) look like rockstars when they have all day to get open… As for running backs, look no further than last years Bronco’s. Tatum Bell was looking good until he went down with injury, where is he now? UFL baby! lol

Happy Birthday
Ain’t that the truth about professional hocey, eh? I am so sick of having to watch preseason hockey games instead of something that is actually meaningful. However, like you mentioned above, it certainly would be nice to win gold in hockey. It really is the only sport that canadians care about in the olympics, so we might as win it.
What are your plans for your birthday?

My GF is taking me to the Chicago Chophouse - Meh, I'm lame
I absolultely hit the roof the other day when I was driving into Calgary and was going to listen to MNF on the Fan960 and they had a preseason hockey game on instead. WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT PRESEASON HOCKEY

Ha Ha!
I know, a few years ago I lost the sugar bowl just to watch the junior championship pregame for hockey. I completely understand the anger.
As for going for dinner, thats what girlfriends do. Before you know it, you’ll be paying for your own birthday dinner. But until then, order the lamb!!!
