I'm throwing this out there because it's been bugging me and I have some questions I know AP can answer.
Yesterday I heard Bill Maas on 610 (I know, that was my first mistake, right?) stating that Haley prefers Brodie Croyle over Cassel, but that Pioli is overriding him on the decision. Now, I don't know Maas, but a quick google search and I see he's a former Chief-turned-broadcaster (and according to wiki a gun and drug enthusiast). I thought it was interesting pot-stirring, but no big deal.
Until I listened to Haley's presser today. Clearly the media has picked up on Maas' statements and asked questions about whether he was "on the same page" as Pioli with regard to the quarterbacks. Haley said yes, said some ok things about Cassel and went on to say nice things about Croyle. I know Haley doesn't hand out verbal bouquets to anyone, but IMO he just seems to temper his comments about Cassel. It's just got me wondering now.
So, here are my questions:
Is Maas FOS or does he have insider info from Arrowhead?
If he does have inside info, is it from management, players, coaches or Croyle's agent?
Is Haley just trying to push Cassel?
Honestly, it's crossed my mind on more than one occasion that Pioli only picked up Cassel and his franchise tag to keep him away from Denver. (Of course, that doesn't explain the contract extension, but who knows with Belichick and Pioli?) Sorry, just went from Machiavellian to delusional.
For the record, I didn't really know anything about Croyle except the "Brokie" remarks on AP in the off-season. From what I've seen both on and off the field so far, he seems like a decent QB and guy.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
