By the end of the year...

Matt Cassel will be on IR, Brodie Croyle will be the starting QB and the offensive line will be completely different. Brandon Alberts is a total bust. The guy makes more mistakes than I can count and he's just a total liability.

I cannot imagine HOW the _____ Chiefs fans can believe in Cassel. The guy looked awful.

Bad decision after bad decision. I was impressed with the defense, but all in all the Chiefs let this game go. Should have been an easy win, and if Croyle was in there in lieu of Cassel, the Chiefs would be 1-1. Cassel continues to prove to me that we need our pick back. He played ONE season of pro football, and everyone wants to crown this guy. Croyle has paid his dues with the Chiefs, yet all the KC fans hate him. I cannot understand you people.

YOU cannot complete a pass with no pass protection. YOU CAN'T.

Croyle is a better QB, has a better arm and makes better decisions.

I would disagree
Brandon Alberts is a total bust. The guy makes more mistakes than I can count and he’s just a total liability.

You chose to look at the last two games as a predictor of his future with the Chiefs. His rookie season, when he gave up only four sacks, was much better. I think he’s being written off too early.

Also playing at an entire new weight and physique that he's not used to.

Not an excuse but theres a learning curve there. Ultimately I think Albert could benefit from having another vet true-tackle on the roster to help his learning progress.

Brokie is not better than Cassel.

It was his 1st regular season game for the Chiefs. Give him a break.

Albert is hardly a bust. It’s his 2nd year. You were probably one of the people calling Dorsey a bust too, weren’t you?

I know there is a link to rec a post, but we need an option with a trash can or something cause that is what this post is.

Trash.

Your opinion.

I am allowed to post my opinions here.

After a full year of coaching Alberts has taken a step back. With a new regime in place and the focus on a tough blah blah blah football team.

This game was a total disgrace and players would not in the right positions.

Haley was out of his element today. He should have kept Croyle in there. Croyle played well enough, on a bad team, to almost beat a very good team.

To put a player in there that is totally UNPROVEN is a totally mystery.

Uproven?? Huh?

Before today, Cassel was 11-5 as a starter.

Brokie is 0-9.

That proves to me Brokie can’t win a game, and the facts prove it. Sheesh.

He can’t just bench him.
Albert is an excellent O-lineman don’t know what game you were watching O-Line played great top to bottom.

OK

because you say so.

Manning went 1-15.

The Colts then built a line around him.

Then they won.

Croyle has never been given a team to play with.

Tony Gonzalez is not enough.

and if you are even slightly implying that croyle is half the player manning is, you should be banned from posting here. yes, you are entitled to an opinion but your brodie man crush is over the top and certainly not warranted. is your name herm?

I guess a 116 passer rating on the CHIEFS lands you on the bench…and in Chiefs fans eyes, exile.

Fat Albert, gotcha.

by Peterman700 on Sep 20, 2009 11:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

On Croyle...

He did have a good passer rating. Yet, he looked like a sack of potatoes in the pocket, no mobility whatsoever. He also looked confused many times during the plays. He has the better arm. He doesn’t have the better awarness, mobility, or leadership. Give it a rest.

by Chiefsfan85 on Sep 20, 2009 11:33 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Awarnes is better

What your calling confusion was Croyle looking off the D something Cassel did not do a good job of.

by kcchiefstd on Sep 21, 2009 8:29 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'll remind you again.....

Brokie is 0-9 as a starting QB in the NFL.

Cassel is 11-6.

I know who I want.

by GetRight on Sep 20, 2009 11:18 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I will remind you

Cassel is 11-6 with the Patriots.

A much different scenario. How blind are you?

It’s not hard when you play on a team full of offensive pro bowlers, hall of famers, a hall of fame coach and not to mention a great defense.

Croyle has played with whom?

His one full season of starts consisted of a deteriorating offensive line, an injured running back, and a bunch of question marks all over the field.

You cannot compare the two situations.

Croyle deserves the job, and no one will convince me otherwise.

Cassel is going to prove to be a complete bust.

he deserves it?

based on what? last weeks game where he couldn’t even get a first down until 2 minutes to go in the first half? maybe it’s how he’s never won a game in the league? maybe it’s because he gets hurt all the time? the only thing it sounds like he deserves is to be replaced.

Actually...

Brokie never played a full season. Got hurt. It was Huard then Thigpen for most of last year.

Brokie proven he can’t win. He has proven he can’t stay healthy.

Brokie never rallied this team and he never really looked like a leader. For the most part he had the deer in the headlights look. At least Cassel shows some leadership and some fire out on the football field. Brokie never did that.

by GetRight on Sep 20, 2009 11:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

lol

Actually Patriots line isn’t that good. Didn’t cassel get the most sacks last year due to the line not protecting him? The only thing that Cassel had that brodie didn’t was a decent receiving core. If Croyle stayed healthy all season long and started every game he would have gotten that sack record due to his inmobility and our offensive line being just as bad. Thigpen moved around. Croyle was injured, just like he was in high school and college.

Due to holding the ball to long and poor vision

Not the play of thier O-Line. look at Big Ben Pittsburgs line was not great last year.

Once again.

I understand a lot of that Getright. I do, believe me.

I just like to point out that Croyle put the Chiefs in a position to win against the RAVENS. A far better football team than the Raiders….on the ROAD.

I can’t believe I am alone on this.

So.....

You don’t want to take Cassel’s year of starts with the Patriots into account but….
You will take Brokie’s ONE good game into account to make your point.

Wow. That makes sense.

absolutly NOT

Bilichick coached team with Randy and Wes along with amazing D does not count sorry Cassel has alot to prove so far 0-1 and Croyle looked better than Cassel. Vision Decision making although Cassel has mor potential Croyle appears better right now.

Brokies Stats....

2007—Played in 9 games. Had a 69.9 QB Rating. 1227 Passing Yards. 6TD 6INT. Never won a start. Got Hurt.
2008—Played in 2 games. Had a 81.2 QB Rating. 151 Passing Yards. 0TD 0INT. Never won a start. Got Hurt.
2009—Played in 1 game so far. Had a 116.1 QB Rating. 177 Passing Yards. 2TD 0INT. Didn’t win. Amazed he wasn’t hurt.

Brokie’s Career Stats:
71.6 QB RAT. 1578 Passing Yards. 8TD 8INT. No wins.

Cassel’s Career Stats:
88.2 QB RAT 3946 Passing Yards 23TD 13INT. 11 wins.

Yep. You make a great point.

There is more to those numbers than just the player. You cannot succeed at the QB position without a good team around you.

You really think Pittsburgh would win with our line ? with our receivers? with our defense?

I bet you can't name two other WR on that team other then Holmes without looking it up.

And they can run block? 23rd ranked team in total rushing yards last year and the 29th ranked ypc average last year. Keep trying.

A QB's job is to stay healthy and win games.

Brokie can’t do that in the NFL. Period. You will never convince me otherwise. He has had his opportunities, and he couldn’t stay healthy. He is 0-9 for pete’s sake. That doesn’t cut it in the NFL, no matter what team you are on.

Cassel is a proven winner. Who care’s what team he was on. He has wins under his belt, and he has intangibles like toughness, leadership, etc., that Brokie never has nor ever will possess.

Give it a rest. Croyle is a backup at best and that is all he would ever be…..with ANY team.

Partially frustration.

Partially go with the guy who is game ready.

I still believe Croyle would have played a better game. The coaching today was abysmal.

coaching & play-calling was sub-par to say the least

by reedeasy on Sep 21, 2009 12:32 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The playcalling was fine.

Other then time management at the end of the first half and the defensive calling on the last drive of the game. The players need to execute whats being called and we arent at that point yet.

"Success is never ending, failure is never final."

by GenericBrand on Sep 21, 2009 3:09 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Play calling was very good

Nothing was bad except for the last play of the first half to compound the time-out situation,
the two INTs and the last 2:00 of the game.
Everything else the Chiefs dominated.

by kcchiefstd on Sep 21, 2009 1:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Somewhat

Croyle more than likely would have beat the Raiders. He would of found the open WRs the announcers were talking about and not thrown the losing INTs.
It would not have been as flashy.

The Ceiling is higher for Cassel than Croyle so I say give him time.

On Albert, he is a very good O-Lineman I’m not sure he is best at LT I would prefer him at guard but that won’t happen tell atleast next year.

by kcchiefstd on Sep 21, 2009 8:19 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Pointless Debate

What did Croyle’s game last week and Cassel’s game this week have in common? Neither could throw the ball down field because the o-line doesn’t give them time for deep routes. The only differense is that Croyle learned his lesson on this last year so he didn’t ever try to go deep, therefore no INTs. Cassel clearly was frustrated by all the dinking and dunking and tried to force a few deep ones. Cassel will learn, just like Brodie finally did that you can’t just throw it down field. Regardless, we won’t have a good passing game until the line can give them more time in the pocket.

Also, Croyle didn’t keep us in the game against the Ravens, the punt block and DJ’s INT kept us in the game despite the offense not being able to put points on the board.

The Good: Moved the ball some, stopped the run
The Bad: penalties and not getting a FG before halftime
The Ugly: losing to J. Russel who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from five yards away

by KCporkchop on Sep 21, 2009 8:31 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Stop with the "Brokie"

It just sounds ridiculous, we all know he is injury prone give it a rest… I think the Chiefs made the right call with Cassel… the problem is this is simply a bad football team from top to bottom. We have an inexperienced head coach who is in way too deep trying to manage the game and call plays. A terrible O line and TE corps. Mediocre LBs and a 4-3 D line playing a 3-4.
2011 before we see major impacts to the W-L column.

by sandpro on Sep 21, 2009 8:31 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I'm a Chiefs Fan

and I don’t hate Croyle. He has Talent no doubt. I don’t think anybody can make a jusitfied decision on who the better qb is until we see more of the season.

Maybe Haley should mix it up between the two, first half Cassel, second half Croyle…or opposite. This year is beggining to look pretty bad, why not see who has what it takes to lead the team?

by RedDawn on Sep 21, 2009 9:04 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

That would

Be the same as admitting we did not need Cassel we are stuck with him unless he gets hurt again so lets just start pushing him to do better.
It would als o make Piolli admit his first major move with the Chiefs was a mistake.
Lets just push for Cassel to do well he has more potential than Croyle even if he is not better right now.

by kcchiefstd on Sep 21, 2009 1:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Angry

One minute people are pointing at the weak O-line, the next it’s all Brodie’s fault.

I wonder if Croyle could make all the throws with a solid O-line.
