Chiefs WR Devard Darling Issues Statement on Season Ending Torn ACL
It's always sad, frustrating and disappointing when a player, especially one with a chance to start, is lost for the year in preseason action.
Unfortunately, this is what happened to Kansas City Chiefs WR Devard Darling in a 14-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on August 29th. He tore his ACL, which is a season ending injury.
Darling has released a statement through a public relations firm, GIC (Thanks to KB at the KC Star for pointing it out).

"It saddens me to say my season has officially come to an end. A torn ACL is a serious injury, but not one I can’t recover from. I will undergo surgery to repair the damage and take the necessary steps towards a full recovery.
"I am confident I will be able to return next season with the same speed and explosiveness you have seen from me in the past.
"Thanks for all of the support and well wishes."

Darling is expected to meet with doctors this week to schedule a time for surgery. The Chiefs officially placed him on IR on Tuesday effectively ending his season.
He was listed with the first team on the Chiefs depth chart and spent much of training camp running with the first team.
He is under contract with the Chiefs through 2010 at base salaries of $1 million and $2 million.

That sucks.
Not the best Wideout but he could have helped us out quite a bit. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

It's sad because he has so much upside.
Hopefully he recovers from this injury fast and doesn’t have any setbacks. Goodluck with the surgery and recovery.

Same explosiveness and speed????
The same speed that got you caught from behing against the Patriots last year when if you would have scored we would have won… He wouldn’t even be on the practice squad of another team…

Torn ACL
is a nasty injury. Very serious. Requires two screws, one into the tibia and one into the femur, to reanchor it, and that’s not including the donor material from the patella tendon that needs to be harvested.
Very hit and miss surgery for that particular position.
On the other hand, I’ve had the injury Cassel has, MCL sprain. It’s from hyperextending the knee and pulling the tendon. You hear a popping sound. It stings the first 3-5 days when you try to walk on it, but after 2-3 weeks the pain is almost completely gone.

This is almost as bad as when Michael Jackson died....
Everyone called him freak, and said he liked 12 year old balls, but not that he’s gone….he’s your hero….now all the sudden everyone wishes Darling well, how precious.
